Hanrahan motivated to build off career year
Pirates' closer Joel Hanrahan has continued to show All-Star form, reaching 98 mph on the radar gun at spring training. He thrived as a closer last season earning an All-Star appearance, saving 40 games and posting a 1.83 ERA. Hanrahan hopes 2012 is simply an encore. Morton and Hanrahan Avoid Arbitration
Joel Hanrahan and Charlie Morton both got deals to avoid arbitration today. Hanrahan, who made $1.4 million last year, was due for a big raise after coming off a season where he made the National League All-Star team and saved 40 games, a career-high.
