Cantu awaits roster decision
TEMPE, Ariz. After the final out in their final Cactus League game Sunday afternoon at Tempe Diablo Stadium, an 8-1 exhibition loss to the Chicago Cubs, Angels players deserted the clubhouse, packed bags in tow. They're off to the Southland for a three-game Freeway Series with the Dodgers that begins Monday and for opening day Friday at home against Kansas City.

When Cantu inked a minor league deal with the Halos last week, not much was said other than ?depth move?. Understandably so, most fans aren?t getting their hopes up that Jorge Cantu is an answer to ANY of the Angels problems. But, with a player of Cantu?s former caliber, there?s always the ?what-if? factor. What if Cantu rediscovered his swing?

Angels sign INF Cantu to minor-league contract
The Los Angeles Angels and free-agent infielder Jorge Cantu have reached an agreement on a minor-league contract.
Cantu will receive an invitation to spring training.
He was waived June 21 by the San Diego Padres after hitting .194 with three home runs and 16 RBIs in 57 games last season.
Cantu, who has spent time with five teams in his career, drove in 100 runs with Florida in 2009.

Veteran infielder Jorge Cantu has agreed to a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Angels.
Cantu also got an invitation to spring training in the deal announced Friday with the Angels, who also signed outfielder Doug Deeds to a minor league deal.
Cantu batted .194 with three homers and 16 RBIs in 57 games last season while playing first base and third base for the San Diego...

I know it doesn’t compare to the Albert Pujols, C.J. Wilson, and maybe not even the LaTroy Hawkins deal, but Jorge Cantu is one of the signings that may turn out to be a blessing in disguise.
