d’Arnaud or Plawecki?
At the beginning of spring training, the question of whether Travis d’Arnaud or Kevin Plawecki was the catching prospect the Mets should hold onto was no question. Travis d’Arnaud was the clear catcher of the future for the New York Mets. However, the play of Kevin Plawecki and the injury history of Travis d’Arnaud has raised an issue for the organization: Which catcher is...
Plawecki Nearing A Promotion From Savannah
Teddy Cahill of MiLB.com had an article this afternoon on catching prospect and 2012 first rounder Kevin Plawecki. As those of you who read here know, Plawecki has been raking in Single-A Savannah and may be close to a promotion to FSL and quite possible even to Double-A Binghamton given how advanced and polished he is.
The former Purdue Boilermaker is hitting .356 with five...
Kevin Plawecki, Jayce Boyd, and age appropriateness
The Savannah Sand Gnats trio of Kevin Plawecki, Jayce Boyd, and Brandon Nimmo has been on the lips of Mets prospect watchers all season long and with good reason. These players are absolutely mashing right now, but analyses of their performances are generally accompanied by certain caveats. The primary caveat with Plawecki and Boyd is that they are a bit old for the South Atlantic...
Mets Minors: Who’s Hot, Who’s Not (April 28- May 5)
Kevin Plawecki is leading the South Atlantic League in hitting.
Welcome to the second edition of Who’s Hot, Who’s Not. This week was a very intriguing one for followers of the Mets minor league system. We saw the rise of two top pitching prospects, and the fall of one who had been absolutely dominant. We also saw Kevin Plawecki continue to show why the Mets made him a first-round...
Plawecki Is A God Among Men In 9-2 Savannah Victory
Savannah 9, Hickory 2
Kevin Plawecki is an absolute monster and Rainy Lara pitched an excellent game. Should I go on?
Lara started the game for the Sand Gnats with the organizational ERA lead – and spoiler alert, he kept that title by the end of the game. He allowed merely an unearned run over seven spectacular innings, where he allowed just four hits and struck out six. Eudy Pina...
The Scoop: Kevin Plawecki and the state of Mets catching
Flash Back: It’s 2012… Josh Thole and Mike Nickeas represent the core of Met catchers. The Mets have poorly ranked catchers in the minors and only Camden Maron (Thole Jr.) stood much of a chance of making an impact.
Flash Forward: It’s 2013… The Mets have John Buck leading the MLB team in more ways than one, Travis d’Arnaud as the anointed second coming of Mike Piazza...
Plawecki Working To Prove Doubters Wrong
With the 35th pick in the 2012 draft, the New York Mets selected Kevin Plawecki out of Purdue University. In a draft where the organization was questioned for drafting low ceiling talents, the now 22-year old catcher was assumed to be an overdraft — Fueled by his ranking as the 68th best prospect pre-draft per Baseball America.

Prospect Spotlight: Kevin Plawecki Is Making Some Noise

One of the things I love about Twitter is how it can spontaneously erupt into a great debate and then lead into other things where you get even more insights and come away smarter than you were before you logged on.
My post about MetsBlog’s poll results this morning, generated an enormous response from fans and mainstream media alike. However, that’s...
Mets Minors: Building from the bottom up – Kevin Plawecki
Kevin Plawecki: Plawecki was drafted 35th overall by the Mets in 2012 and he was sent to play in Brooklyn. The college catcher proved to be a solid (albeit safe) pick as he turned in good (if not overwhelming) numbers. Plawecki managed a triple slash of .250/.345/.384 which is respectable over his 61 game debut in professional sports.
Scouting: At 6’2” and 215 pounds it...
