Fresno is new spot for Astros' Triple-A team

HOUSTON (AP) The Houston Astros have signed a two-year contract to move their Triple-A affiliate to Fresno, California. Houston's Triple-A team had been in Oklahoma City since 2011 and was in Round Rock, Texas, from 2005-2010. Reid Ryan, the Astros' president of business operations, says that Fresno was a good fit because it is close to Houston's Single-A affiliate in Lancaster...

Former A's catcher Gordy MacKenzie dies

HOUSTON (AP) Gordy MacKenzie, the longtime minor league manager and coach and scout who had a short stint in the majors as a catcher with the Kansas City Athletics, has died. He was 77. The Houston Astros said Wednesday that MacKenzie died Tuesday. The team didn't provide the cause of death. MacKenzie had three hits and an RBI in 24 at-bats in 11 games for the Athletics in 1961...
