Travis Mattair came into the 2012 season as a relative unknown prospect who the Reds plucked up in the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 Draft from the Phillies the previous offseason. Peoria drops two in a row over weekend
Despite a four-run eighth inning, Peoria was unable to rally and lost to Surprise 11-8 on Friday. They tallied 11 hits to the Saguaros' 12 and both teams committed an error in the game. Reds players played a big part in this game, but weren't able to assist in a victory.

Wednesday night saw Peoria drop its fifth straight game as the Javelinas were defeated 6-4 by the Surprise Saguaros. Despite outhitting them 11-10, and the Saguaros committing four errors, the Javelinas were unable to come out wth a victory. The two Reds prospects who played had a nice day though.

I wanted to throw this one out there. The rules under the CBA state that college players must be protected after 4 seasons (anyone age 19 and older when drafted) and high school kids 5 years after they are drafted. By my quick estimation, that would mean all high school kids taken in the 2007 draft have to be protected, and all college kids from the 2008 draft have to go on the 40...
