Every fan who stomps their foot and says “We’d be better with Backman!” is pretty much just...

Mets Are Too Comfortable With Losing, Backman Would Change That

Bob Klapisch of The Record says he couldn’t help but wonder how Sandy Alderson really felt about Wally Backman winning the Pacific Coast League’s Manager of the Year award, considering the GM has shown no intention of giving Backman a chance in New York. It’s time to reconsider this de facto blackball, and see Backman as an asset who can help the Mets ascend toward respectability...

Backman Has No Shot At Managing Mets Despite Being Named League’s Best Manager

John Harper of the Daily News wrote an extensive article on what the future may hold for Wally Backman now that he has been named the PCL Manager of the Year. He says that if nothing else, the award is just more proof that Backman is a very good minor-league manager who deserves a chance at a big-league job. Terry Collins is almost a lock to be back in 2015 and everything Harper...

Wally Backman Won’t Interview For Reds Job — Yet’s John Erardi opined earlier today that Las Vegas 51′s manager and former New York Met Wally Backman would be an ideal candidate to fill the managerial void left by Dusty Baker. Erardi believes that Backman’s no-nonsense attitude and aggressive style of play is the perfect fit for a team that needs a fire lit underneath them. The piece received widespread attention...
