Hard for the Yard:
Well that was anti-climactic. Kimbo faced a decent opponent and lost.
After Kimbo's unimpressive victory over James Thompson in May, why was Gus Johnson calling Seth "The Silverback" Petruzelli the next Rocky when he KO'd Kimbo tonight in only 14 seconds?
Watch the Kimbo Slice/James Thompson fight and tell me what exactly makes Seth's victory over Kimbo tonight, as Gus would have you believe, "the most incredible victory in the history of mixed-martial arts?"

Now, with Randy Couture back in UFC with a November date against Brock Lesnar, the UFC is gaining steam. Kimbo Slice is Tank Abbott 2008. Again, I 'm not hatin' on Kimbo, but street-fighters historically don't dominate against skilled mixed martial artists.

Supposing this IS on the up and up; ANYTHING can happen on any given day. I wouldn't be too cocky if I were Seth. There is always someone training hard to come in and take you out even faster and more CONVINCINGLY than he did to Kimbo.
Something is off,though; I believe.

It is true that GSP lost Matt Hughes, the best fighter in the world at the time in his weight class, and to MAtt Serra. It is also true that Chuck Liddell lost to Horn. The difference is, those losses were to the top dogs in the weight division.
Kimbo has not untill now faught anyone with any credibility once so ever. He fights big names, that are washed up bums, and that even in their primes don't compare to todays MMA fighters.
Not only did Kimbo lose to someone who is by far not a top dog, not only did he get DESTROYED by that someone, but that someone would not normally even be in his same weight class.
Kimbo slice was destroyed by a medicore fighter way smaller than him!
Kimbo is finished. Maybe, and I mean maybe, if he was 20 years old right now and at the same level he is at, he would have a chance to get good enough. But he is not 20 years old.
Give me a break! Anyone who sees signifigant potential in Kimbo Slice is a moron!
Even Brock Lesnar fights real opponents, damn! And by the way, anyone who thinks Kimbo Slice could even come close to beating Lesnar, a former NCAA wrestling champ, is also a complete moron!

As far as Serra and horn, no I guess not really top dogs compared to the other names you mentioned.

Seth should also be interesting to watch. When a fighter comes to the ring with nothing to lose, they seem to go all out. This time it paid off. Will Seth continue? Remember Houston Alexander vs. Keith Jardine?
