Well that was anti-climactic. Kimbo faced a decent opponent and lost. After Kimbo's unimpressive victory over James Thompson in May, why was Gus Johnson calling Seth "The Silverback" Petruzelli the next Rocky when he KO'd Kimbo tonight in only 14 seconds? Watch the Kimbo Slice/James Thompson fight and tell me what exactly makes Seth's victory over Kimbo tonight, as Gus would have you believe, "the most incredible victory in the history of mixed-martial arts?" ...

First of all I love your critiques of all the stupid s**t that was said on tonight's broadcast...and second, that clown will get smashed by anyone who looks past the ridiculous pink hair and actually puts a punch in his silly jaw. This is my first post as a 100% hard for the yard contributor and i love every character of it...Pelechati get your ass back from Yosemite and watch the fights on the deck...Outdoor man beating is what i want

haha yea justwannawinna, i agree with you. I was talking this fight up so much around the house and then that happends!!! But kimbo desereved that Knockout with the way his chest was shaved..hahaha
    • this fight looked fixed. makes sense with all the hype the shamrock cant preform which leaves a future fight between slice and shamrock " more money" . and creates a new fight draw in seth. the puch that knocked slice down was glancing and all the other punches missed. seen slice take much harder shots in previous fights without as much as a wobble. noboby could even look at the camera after the fight including the commentators. this kind of crap killed boxing hopefully im wrong about this for the sake of MMA.
  • HE MADE THE SAME MISTAKE AS CHUCK LIDDELL HE CHASED A GUY HE TAUGHT HE COULD KNOCKOUT AND GOT CAUGHT THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS SOMETIMES. IT WAS BOUND TO HAPPEN BLACK PEOPLE WEREN'T SHOCKED AT ALL CAUSE WE ALL KNOW 100 GUYS THAT WOULD TAKE KIMBO'S SLOW ASS APART. OH YA AND CHUCKS SLOW ASS TO.

I really wanted Shamrock to destroy Kimbo but an injury changed that scenario. I still think there are good black fighters in the world. I know in boxing the white heavyweights are dominating and it seems to be the trend here also. Slice eventually had to fight a white dude and he paid a heavy price.

  • First of all.... I find it cap out bec kimbo trip himself that's y he lost ...... but like i say it's a cap out if you take the time backwards, if kimbo did not make any mistake kimbo would've whip that punk a** he was so quick to give kimbo a sucker punch because he know for sure that kimbo will give him a good blow and break his face. SETH is a scarrey cat.... pfft it all good let see what happen im hopin for second round 2. We'll see for those who left a comment for the one's hating on kimbo.
    • fat2rak005
i didnt notice any slip, but if he did, thats nothing new to mma. just watch couture vs liddell 3. randy slips and chuck takes advantage and finishes him. seth took advantage of kimbo's mistake, thats often how many people lose, they make a mistake and their opponent takes advantage of it. it was just seth's night that night. im sure kimbo will come back and learn from it. he has a great team behind him that will make sure kimbo learns from this.

i though it was funny when arvoloski offerd to replace shamrock and fight slice but the guys in charge did not let him because they knew kimbo would get killed if they let him fight the pittbull arvoloski.they want to keep him winning because they know he sells tickets so they made him fight someone they thought he would destroy;little did they know kimbo would be the one getting destroyed and knocked out and bloodied in the first 14 seconds.

EliteXC just lost their meal-ticket. I have much respect for all that enter the cage, but I always felt that Kimbo Slice was overrated and protected. He was the one "name" guy that could have helped give EliteXC a chance to hang with UFC.

Now, with Randy Couture back in UFC with a November date against Brock Lesnar, the UFC is gaining steam. Kimbo Slice is Tank Abbott 2008. Again, I 'm not hatin' on Kimbo, but street-fighters historically don't dominate against skilled mixed martial artists.

I do not follow this sport closely but I sense something "off" about this whole thing. I heard about it from a friend yesterday and even THEN I was seeing payoffs and foul play.
Supposing this IS on the up and up; ANYTHING can happen on any given day. I wouldn't be too cocky if I were Seth. There is always someone training hard to come in and take you out even faster and more CONVINCINGLY than he did to Kimbo.
    Something is off,though; I believe.
  • Now finally we all can see Kimbo back in Miami fighting in back of boatyards for a couple a stacks on youtube,
    • fat2rak005
just because the guy lost doesnt mean hes absolute garbage. everyone loses, no one is perfect. gsp lost to matt hughes and matt serra, chuck liddell lost to jeremy horn, quinton jackson, and randy couture. i dont get why everyone is writing kimbo off just because he lost to seth. kimbo is still young in the sport, im sure he'll learn from this and come back better.
  • SistaGrl
I agree with fat2rak. Is it Kimbo's fault that he is one of the faces of EliteXC? It seems like Kimbo was perfect in this capacity because many are watching just to see him lose. Sometimes fighters get a loss under their belt and they use it as motivation to come back stronger. I look forward to Kimbo's next fight!
  • Fat2rak005,
It is true that GSP lost Matt Hughes, the best fighter in the world at the time in his weight class, and to MAtt Serra. It is also true that Chuck Liddell lost to Horn. The difference is, those losses were to the top dogs in the weight division.
Kimbo has not untill now faught anyone with any credibility once so ever. He fights big names, that are washed up bums, and that even in their primes don't compare to todays MMA fighters.
Not only did Kimbo lose to someone who is by far not a top dog, not only did he get DESTROYED by that someone, but that someone would not normally even be in his same weight class.
Kimbo slice was destroyed by a medicore fighter way smaller than him!
Kimbo is finished. Maybe, and I mean maybe, if he was 20 years old right now and at the same level he is at, he would have a chance to get good enough. But he is not 20 years old.
Give me a break! Anyone who sees signifigant potential in Kimbo Slice is a moron!
Even Brock Lesnar fights real opponents, damn! And by the way, anyone who thinks Kimbo Slice could even come close to beating Lesnar, a former NCAA wrestling champ, is also a complete moron!
    • fat2rak005
So you're saying Matt Serra is a top dog? A person that no one gave a chance at beating GSP and the only reason why he got a title shot was because of a reality show. Matt Serra completely humiliated GSP (I personally believed it was a fluke, and we all saw what happened when GSP came in 100% healthy against Serra the second time) I never once said Kimbo is great or Kimbo can beat everyone. He is 34 years old, but its not like hes ancient. He has a great camp with Bas Rutten and they're doing a good job in bringing Kimbo up. Its not Kimbo's fault that EliteXC is promoting the hell out of him and making him a star strictly because of his youtube fame. All Kimbo wants to do is compete. And Horn has never been a "Top Dog" in any division. I agree that Kimbo has never fought anyone with any credibility till now but just give Kimbo some more time to train and learn more aspects of the game and I'm sure he'll be decent.
  • I hope Bas Rutten is not the one teaching him his ground game.

As far as Serra and horn, no I guess not really top dogs compared to the other names you mentioned.
    • fat2rak005
hahah, I think Kimbo goes back and forth from Bas's gym and Randy's gym, but dont quote me on that.
  • BILLFOLD9
ya but emelianenko never truly lost.1 timed they stoped the fight on him for a cut and he was destroying that fight then later he came back to face that same guys and fedor knocked him out
  • SistaGrl
Painter, Kimbo does have potential. He has to keep training and working on his weaknesses. Kimbo knows he has weaknesses. What fighter doesn't have to work on weaknesses? Kimbo is a streetfighter. I don't expect him to have a flawless record against people who have been training since childhood in mixed martial arts. I don't even expect him to become a master at one particular brand of martial arts. I do expect him to get better as he continues to train.

Seth should also be interesting to watch. When a fighter comes to the ring with nothing to lose, they seem to go all out. This time it paid off. Will Seth continue? Remember Houston Alexander vs. Keith Jardine?
