This Saturday’s headlining fight for UFC on Fuel TV 9 is in serious jeapordy due to a facial laceration suffered by Alexander Gustafsson while training. Gustafsson was set to face Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi. Gustafsson was taken to the hospital immediately after the injury occurred and multiple doctors said that it would take weeks for the cut to properly heal. Not sure what the UFC will do if “The Mauler” is unable to fight since the card was essentially built around him. Doubtful any light heavyweights could make 205 lbs on 6 days notice so if the UFC is going to try to find a replacement for Mousasi it will most likely be a middleweight. The co main event for this card is Ross Pearson vs Ryan Couture, which is a very interesting match up but hard to sell it as a main event worthy fight. As of this writing Gustafsson is not out of the fight so lets just keep our fingers cross and hope that he will be able to compete.
