Sorry, Mark Hunt and your unabashed fanboys. UFC president Dana White has once again swiftly shot down the #RallyForMarkHunt movement. Similarly to when Hunt’s fans bombarded White on Twitter to get their man swapped in for a suspended Alistair Overeem (pictured) to fight Junior dos Santos at UFC 146, they hit White up again on the social media network to have Hunt sub in for an injured Overeem at UFC 160. Unfortunately for Hunt and his rabid supporters, White stopped the hashtag charge dead in its tracks. “not lookin good. Cigano vs Overeem in the summer,” White wrote in response to a fan who was pushing for dos Santos vs. Hunt. Overeem also took to Twitter Thursday to address his now-not-so undisclosed injury. It appears a shredded quadriceps muscle is what has forced “The Demolition Man” from keeping his appointment. “Injured! Caught a slightly tear in my quad muscle so unfortunately out of may 25 UFC. Not happy to let you guys ‘the fans’ down!” Overeem tweeted. Wednesday’s report stated Overeem’s wound could keep him sidelined up to five weeks. Although the kickboxer had to withdraw from UFC 160, he was hoping to keep the dos Santos scrap intact until he returned. Looks like the former Strikeforce heavyweight champion will get his wish. The bitter rivals were set to co-headline UFC 160, with the victor advancing to a championship affair. There’s no reason to believe the stakes have changed due to the postponement.
