When Tito Ortiz had to pull out of his main event fight against “Rampage” Jackson, Bellator decided to move the Bellator 106 to Spike TV. The question was, could it deliver with its headlining fight gone? The answer was a resounding yes. It was announced per a press release from Spike TV that Bellator 106: Eddie Alvarez versus Michael Chandler II delivered 1.1 million viewers (9:00pm-12:45am), the most-watched in Bellator event history and the most watched mixed martial arts show on television this fall. The “Chandler-Alvarez II” fight card peaked at 1.4 million viewers at 11:17pm and reached its high mark with Men 18-49 with a 1.1 rating for the Alvarez-Chandler bout. The telecast also ranked #2 in cable in its timeslot with Men 18-49. The main event had Alvarez defeating Chandler to regain the Bellator lightweight title. A lot of fans complained that due to the event being so long and DVR’s cut off after a certain point, Bellator is going to re-air the entire Chandler vs Alvarez...

Bellator 106: 'Chandler vs. Alvarez 2' Main Card Highlights

Three new champions were crowned last night in Long Beach on what was being sold to us as the biggest Bellator event of all-time. While it didn't exactly turn out to be anywhere close to an event of the year candidate, the main event of the evening instantly became the third fight of the year candidate in as many months. Chandler and Alvarez made magic once again, except this...

Eddie Alvarez talks win over Michael Chandler and would rather fish than talk immediate rubber match

Last night at the Long Beach Sports Arena was sort of like a human version of a Dragon Ball Z movie. Seeing Eddie Alvarez and Michael Chandler go back and forth in person was like Goku and Vegeta going at it minus the sonic boom’s and kamehameha’s. For five rounds the two earth warriors (Get it? we are still on Dragon Ball Z) brutalized each other with speed, power and good ol’...

Bellator 106: Chandler vs Alvarez Results

Bellator 106: Michael Chandler vs Eddie Alvarez went down this past Saturday night from the Long Beach Arena, in Long Beach California and after a somewhat lackluster night of fights the main event delivered.  In a BIG way.  Mike and Eddie lived up to the hype that surrounded their rematch, again for the Bellator MMA Lightweight World Championship, and put on a five round classic...

Bellator lightweight champ has returned to his hometown of Philadelphia and is enjoying his victory with those who have been behind him from the beginning.  Most people in the neighborhood took the day off work and allowed their kids to miss school to spend time with the champ.  No question people love Eddie and it is easy to see why. Dan Henderson on Shogun rematch: “We will see…”

See, in my opinion, the best match of November 19th, 2011, was NOT Eddie Alvarez/Michael Chandler 1, it was Hendo vs. Shogun. Two legends clashing in an all out war that could’ve gone either way. To the death – Shogun wins. But who really knows. It was one of those brutal fights that only really comes along once every few years (lightning struck twice that night), but I have...

The Fight Wolff's Chandler-Alvarez II breakdown

Fight of the year just keeps getting more difficult with each passing month. It was already shaping up to be one of the best years in MMA and then we get the unexpected greatness of Jones-Gustafsson. We had barely digested it when along came the Sanchez-Melendez fight that exceed the high pre-fight expectations for awesomeness. As that fight was settling in as a no doubter for fight...
