The Bellator Fighting Championship heads to The Venue at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, IN to kick off their Season 6 featherweight tournament at Bellator 60 on Friday, March 9th. Also on tap is a featherweight world championship bout between title holder Joe Warren and challenger Pat Curran.

This season Bellator has made the move to Friday night events instead of on Saturdays. The main card of Bellator 60 will air live on MTV2 and EPIX HD beginning at 8:00pm ET while the preliminary card will stream free on Spike.com at 7:00pm ET.

Pat Curran vs. Joe Warren (Featherweight Championship)
Curran (16-4) is the first fighter to win Bellator tournaments in two weight classes. He won the Season 2 lightweight tournament but came up short in his title quest when he was outpointed by Eddie Alvarez at Bellator 39. He would capture the featherweight tournament with a devastating head-kick knockout of Marlon Sandro at Bellator 48.

Curran enters the title shot on a roll but will he be able to breakthrough in his title quest against the wrestling specialist Warren (7-2)? In a recent chat with the Chicago Sun Times, Curran stated, “I’m expecting him to run at me and clinch and tie up right away…the best chance Joe has of beating me is taking me down, passing my guard and holding me down for five rounds”.

Warren captured the featherweight title with a second round knockout of Joe Soto at Bellator 27 in September 2010. This bout against Curran will be his first title defense. He has competed twice since capturing the title. He decisioned Marcos Galvao at Bellator 41 in a non-title bout. Warren then made an unsuccessful venture in the Season 5 bantamweight tournament where he was knockout out by Alexis Vila in just 64 seconds at Bellator 51.

If Warren can utilize his superior wrestling to dictate the fight then he will retain his title. The more well-rounded Curran seems to have more ways to win the fight then Warren. Curran puts his previous title failure behind him as he walks away with a late round stoppage.

Jeremy Spoon vs. Daniel Strauss (Featherweight Tournament Quarterfinal)
Spoon enters the tournament undefeated at 12-0 and has won 9 fights via stoppage. He has competed twice with Bellator and defeated Adam Schindler by unanimous decision most recently at Bellator 56. Strauss advanced to the finals of the Season 4 tournament with wins over Kenny Foster and Nazareno Malegarie. He was defeated by Patricio Freire in the finals. Pick: Strauss by unanimous decision in a close bout

Mike Corey vs. Ronnie Mann (Featherweight Tournament Quarterfinal)
Corey (11-2-1) enters the tournament as a injury replacement for Wagnney Fabiano. A wrestling specialist, Corey fought Chris Horodecki to draw in his promotional debut at Bellator 57. Mann (21-4-1) has won five of his past six bouts with the only loss coming to Pat Curran in the featherweight tournament semifinals at Bellator 47. The experience and versatility of Mann will pave the way to the semifinals. Pick: Mann by submission

Alexandre Bezerra vs. Genair da Silva (Featherweight Tournament Quarterfinal)
A battle of talented Brazilians. Bezerra (12-1) has finished eleven of his opponents which includes four straight with Bellator. Da Silva (11-4) debuted at Bellator 46 with a hard fought split decision loss to Marlon Sandro. He would rebound from that loss with a first round submission of Bryan Goldsby at Bellator 52. Da Silva holds his own standing early but Bezerra gets the fight where he wants. Pick: Bezerra by submission

Marlon Sandro vs. Roberto Vargas (Featherweight Tournament Quarterfinal)
Sandro (20-3) may be the man to beat in this tournament. He rebounded from the loss to Curran with a submission win of Rafael Dias at Bellator 58. Vargas (12-1) returns to Bellator after almost three years. He split his two fights in 2009 as he won a decision over Daniel Pineda and was outpointed by Wilson Reis. Sandro appears to have the advantage in most aspects of the fight as Vargas takes a step up in competition. Pick: Sandro by technical knockout

FROpinion: Fro Scores say it all. Bezerra.

Kenny Foster: 39.8/42.0

Anthony Gomez: 39.5/38.0
FROpinion: This looks like a beatdown on paper. Gomez has fought 2 decent opponents. Wiuff has an extensive resume. Wiuff.
