The Bellator Fighting Championships will kick off their season 7 heavyweight tournament at Bellator 75 on October 5th. The action will take place from the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana.
Two of the quarterfinal bouts for the eight-man heavyweight tournament are already set for the event. Will the third time be the charm when Eric Prindle takes on Thiago Santos. The first meeting between the fighters in the season 5 finals ended as a No Contest after just season 84 seconds. An accidental groin shot by Santos left Prindle unable to continue the bout. A scheduled rematch at Bellator 62 never materialized as Santos was unable to make weight. Prindle was subsequently awarded the season 5 tournament title.
Brett Rogers will return to the Bellator cage to take on Ruslan Magomedov in another quarterfinal bout. Rogers is coming off a successful promotional debut with a second round technical knockout of Kevin Asplund at Bellator 71. Magomedov will be making his Bellator debut. He has just one defeat in his nine professional bouts.
Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney stated, “Our heavyweights always bring a great show with huge power and big KO’s, so our fans in the Chicago area should be in for a great night of fights.”
