UFC Middleweight Chael Sonnen

UFC president Dana White may have opened up a can of worms when he said fans’ interest could determine whether Jon Jones vs. Chael Sonnen (Pictured) comes to fruition. If Sonnen defeats Forrest Griffin at UFC 155, White fully expects MMA’s most lethal smack talker to put “Bones” on blast during his post-fight celebratory speech.

That may be the case, but Uncle Chael isn’t wasting any time in launching his verbal assault.

“”Deserve?” I don’t wait, I take. You’re not the BEST, you’re just NEXT. @jonnybones #fixurarmurgonnaneedit,” Sonnen tweeted the day after Jones defended his throne at UFC 152.

He followed up Monday with a personal shot at Jones and his extracurricular activities.

“Hey Jon, What do you think will cost more? Your hospital tab or the settlement you made with the two broads from the backseat? @jonnybones,” Sonnen asked.

Sonnen is clearly referencing the right arm Jones nearly had snapped in half by Vitor Belfort on Saturday and when the 25-year-old was popped for a DWI after wrapping his Bentley around a telephone pole at 5AM with two females in his $190,000 car – neither of which were his fiancée and mother of his two young daughters.

The two could have collided UFC 151 when Sonnen offered to serve as a last-minute substitute for injured Dan Henderson, but Jones declined the bout and forced the organization to cancel the September 1st event.

Not only did Jones believe Sonnen didn’t deserved a shot at his throne, but he felt eight days’ notice wasn’t enough time to study for Chael P.

Sonnen, who hasn’t fought in the 205-pound division in nearly seven years, owns a 5-3 record under the UFC’s watch. All of those contests took place at middleweight. The 35-year-old is fresh off a TKO loss to 185-pound champ Anderson Silva in the most anticipated rematch in MMA history.

Jones was issued an indefinite medical suspension Tuesday for his arm injury, so he might be riding the pine for quite some time.
