Reigning Strikeforce bantamweight queen Ronda Rousey (Pictured) has emphatically stated on countless occasions that if a blockbuster bout against Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos ever takes place, the former featherweight champ would have to shed 10 pounds to challenge Rousey in her weight class.

Santos, who has had issues on the scale in the past, claims there’s no way her chiseled frame would allow her to make 135 pounds. Rousey believes that if Cyborg “stopped juicing” she would be able to cut the excess weight.

As it currently stands, both ladies would love for the fantasy fight to become fact. However, neither appears willing to budge.

In steps UFC president Dana White and his powers of persuasion. He claims they are inching towards to making the box office scrap a reality.

“I think we are [getting closer],” White stated at Friday’s UFC on FX 5 post-fight press conference. “You’ve been seeing me hanging around with Ronda a lot. So, I’m working on it.”

Cyborg is currently serving a year-long ban after testing positive for stanozolol metabolites following her dominant victory over Hiroko Yamanaka. White immediately stripped the 27-year-old of her featherweight hardware.

She is eligible to reapply for licensing as early as December 17th, so White has some time to arrange the most anticipated female fight in mixed martial arts history.

Rousey, meanwhile, has become the new face of women’s MMA. Her immaculate résumé reads a perfect 6-0, with all of her fights ending in 1stRound armbar submission fashion.
