Ex-rival of Jon Jones tells Stipe Miocic he is the only heavyweight who can beat the ‘GOAT’
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Rampage Jackson and Jon Jones had an interesting rivalry in the past. The UFC legend has accused Jones of many things. However, he had some advice for Stipe Miocic who will potentially face Jon Jones later this year. But why did Jackson say Stipe Miocic could be the only one to beat Jon Jones?

Stipe Miocic recently sat down with Rampage Jackson on the JAXXON podcast. During their discussion, Rampage Jackson stated something very interesting.

I think you will be the first one to beat him. I just feel like he might not have a chin, based off the way he fights. Rampage Jackson via JAXXON podcast

Jackson had a couple of instructions for Miocic. He observed that Jones makes it very hard for fighters to get in close enough to punch him. According to him, Jones’s whole style was keeping his opponent away from him. Stipe Miocic is a taller guy with longer arms than most people Jones has fought. Jackson does not see Jon Jones being able to fight Miocic the same way he has fought other fighters.

The duo were supposed to fight last year at UFC 295. However, Jones had to pull out due to injury. Nonetheless, Miocic is ready to wait as long as it takes to fight Jon Jones in the octagon. Although there are no official announcements just yet, both fighters have made it pretty clear that they intend to fight each other as soon as possible.

What happened between Rampage Jackson and Jon Jones?

While giving him advice, Rampage Jackson told Stipe Miocic not to let Jon Jones dictate the fight. Not just Jon Jones, Jackson believes a fighter should not let his opponent do what they want. He said if you let them do what they want, that would be the end of the road for the fighter.

That was what Jackson believed happened to him when he fought Jon Jones.

I got f*cked up in that fight. It was all my fault. I trained really hard for Jon Jones. That was the first fight I was overconfident, ‘No way is this kid going to beat me.’ I trained my a*s off. I was in the best shape, like 99 percent, hardly no injuries. It was a good feeling.

Jones fought his first light heavyweight title defense against Rampage Jackson. They faced each other in 2011 at UFC 135. Their fight lasted four rounds. Jones ultimately ended the fight by submitting Jackson with a rear naked choke.
