To ensure there is no misunderstanding, Junior dos Santos reiterated during Thursday’s conference call that he believes Frank Mir (Pictured) has no heart. Although Mir heard the diss crystal clearly, in Portuguese and once again when it was translated to English, the former two-time heavyweight champion was unfazed and plans to prove his opponent wrong at UFC 146.
“No one likes to hear anything negative said about them, but I just broke down on why he said what he said when he backed it up on certain fights and I looked at it,” Mir shared. “I have no issues with my matches. I guess I just took it as him trying to sell the fight, and try to stir the pot.”
Although dos Santos is known as one of the game’s nicest guys, he hasn’t been shy in critiquing Mir’s perceived shortcomings. Perhaps the financial incentives of headlining his first UFC event as the division’s champ has “Cigano” believing that bumping his gums would be of benefit.
How well do you think he’s doing, Frank?
“Dos Santos, I think, has done better as far as a fighter in the Octagon than he has as far as trying to sell the fights,” Mir expressed. “So it’s something he’s new at and maybe not very successful with.”
Mir has remained relatively quite in the pre-fight smack talk festivities. Perhaps the veteran doesn’t want to give 2Santos any additional ammo for their shootout. On the flipside, has dos Santos woken a sleeping dog with his public analysis?
Mir will have the opportunity to show dos Santos the size of his heart when the 265-pounders collide May 26th inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
