The injury bug has forced Terry Etim out of his scheduled lightweight clash with Joe Lauzon at UFC on FOX 4. UFC officials have announced that Jamie Varner will step in for Etim against Lauzon.
Varner (20-6-1), a former WEC lightweight champion, returned to the UFC as an injury replacement for Evan Dunham at UFC 146. It would be a successful night for Varner who recorded a stunning first round technical knockout of previously undefeated Edson Barboza.
Lauzon (21-7) is a veteran from The Ultimate Fighter 5. He will look to get back on track after suffering knockout loss to Anthony Pettis at UFC 144. Prior to the loss, Lauzon had notched consecutive first round submission wins over Melvin Guillard and Curt Warburton.
UFC on FOX 4 takes place on August 4th from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Headlining the event is a light heavyweight bout matching Mauricio “Shogun” Rua against Brandon “The Truth” Vera.
