In an attempt to jump start his career, Scott Jorgensen has decided to drop an extra 10 pounds and move to flyweight, where he'll take on Ian McCall in his divisional debut.
The matchup will take place at UFC on FOX 9, the UFC announced on Tuesday.
Once a bantamweight No. 1 contender, Jorgensen (14-7) has sputtered of late, losing three of his last four, though the losses were all to top talents (Urijah Faber, Eddie Wineland and Renan Barao, respectively). His only win during that span is a submission victory over John Albert.
Jorgensen has fought his entire career at 135.
In McCall, he'll be facing an opponent looking to begin a win streak to get him back in title contention. McCall is 1-2-1 in his four UFC bouts, and finally earned his first octagon victory in August, when he defeated Iliarde Santos via unanimous decision. He's 12-4-1 overall.
The event takes place on Dec. 14 at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, and features a UFC lightweight championship main event pitting newly crowned titleholder Anthony "Showtime" Pettis against Josh Thomson. Other confirmed matchups include Urijah Faber vs. Michael McDonald and Chad Mendes vs. Nik Lentz.
