1stRound:
Edgar charges in and eats an uppercut. Two quick left jabs by Aldo. A pair of solid straight rights by the champ. Aldo’s hands look sharp, particularly his long left jab. Thunderous leg kick by Aldo. And another. It’s imperative Edgar avoids them, not just because they hurt like hell but it takes away his foot movement.
5thRound scored it: Aldo, 10-9.
2ndRound:
Edgar’s lead leg is already bruised from two kicks. One-two combo by Aldo. The speed advantage Edgar enjoyed at lightweight isn’t translating in his 145-pound debut. Edgar fails on his first takedown attempt. Aldo unleashes another nasty leg kick. He trips up Edgar with another violent leg kick. Edgar caught a kick, landed a punch and scored a quick takedown in one motion. Two stiff jabs by Aldo.
5thRound scored it: Aldo, 10-9.
3rdRound:
Aldo thwarts a takedown try. Edgar’s corner keeps yelling that Aldo is slowing down. We know Edgar can go on for days. “The Answer” eats a front kick to the face. Solid leg kick by Edgar. And again. Aldo answers with a left hook. Edgar tags him with a one-two combo. Another flurry by Edgar. Edgar lands a right hand. He tries a takedown and Aldo throws him off.
5thRound scored it: Edgar, 10-9.
4thRound:
Nothing significant landing for either fighter. Edgar charges for a takedown to no avail, but lands a couple of punches as they separate. Edgar tags him with a left hook. Edgar gets a body lock and slams him to the mat. Aldo bounces right back up, but the challenger is draped on his back against the cage. Edgar unloading knees to the back of Aldo’s legs. Leg kick by Edgar.
5thRound scored it: Edgar, 10-9.

Big leg kick by Edgar. Nice jab by Aldo, Edgar counters with a right hand. Left hand by Aldo. Edgar fails on a takedown attempt, but lands a right. Two unanswered leg kicks by Edgar. Edgar catches him with a knee to the face in the clinch. Edgar tags him with a combo. He follows up with an inside leg kick. Aldo clocks him with a right punch. Edgar answers with a combo. Edgar and Aldo exchange rights. Aldo pushes off the fence and tags him with a right. This will all come down to how the judges saw the middle frame.
