Move over, Jon Jones and Anderson Silva. Reigning UFC heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos (Pictured) might be the next mixed martial artist to don the world famous swoosh inside the Octagon.
On this week’s edition of FUEL TV’s UFC Tonight, it was reported dos Santos is close to signing with Nike. Helping add fuel to the fire was the fact dos Santos was sporting a Nike T-shirt during his interview on Tuesday’s show.
If the report holds true, 2Santos will join Jones and Silva as the only UFC fighters to endorse the most popular athletic label on the planet. “Bones” and “The Spider” reportedly have global agreements. No word if dos Santos will receive that kind of exposure or would simply represent Nike in his homeland of Brazil.
Dos Santos has been sponsored by Pretorian in his last two fights – in November’s championship clinching knockout victory over Cain Velasquez and in his only title defense when he put Frank Mir down at UFC 146.
The likeable slugger will defend his hardware against Velasquez on December 29th at UFC 155 in Las Vegas.
