The injury bug has forced UFC interim bantamweight champion Renan Barao out of his anticipated title fight against Eddie Wineland at UFC 161. Dan Henderson vs. Rashad Evans now headlines the card. The news was officially announced on UFC.com earlier today.
The loss of the bantamweight title fight is a significant blow to the UFC’s debut event in Winnipeg, Manitoba. With less than 4 weeks until the event, the organization is unlikely to find a suitable replacement for Wineland.
Rashad Evans is riding the fight 2-fight losing streak in his entire professional career after back-to-back losses to current light-heavyweight champ Jon Jones followed by a major upset loss to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. The former champ will be looking to get back to his winning ways when he takes on Henderson on June 15th.

The event scheduled for Winnipeg, Manitoba, on June 15 -- which was to feature Barao vs. Eddie Wineland -- will now have Rashad Evans vs. Dan Henderson as the main event, the UFC announced on Tuesday.
Barao tore ligaments in his foot during training, according to MMAJunkie.com.
With a blink of an eye – or in this case, an injured foot – “UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland” has changed to “UFC 161: Henderson vs. Evans.”
