It’s not every day you encounter a gem like Rachel Wray. Last year at this time she was on an NFL sideline cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs. Now? Oh, she just went and became a professional MMA fighter, no biggie. How does such a drastic change come about? She was training at a boxing gym in Kansas City to keep her body tight during the NFL season, fight caught her attention and the next thing we know she’s getting in the ring! Kansas City MMA talked with Rachel and she had this to say: Last year, I was a Chiefs Cheerleader.  I have been a cheerleader or dancer my whole life and I moved here from Arkansas to cheer for the Kansas City Chiefs.  I started working out at Title Boxing Club with some of the girls for an alternative workout. I really enjoyed it and started taking private lessons after a little while.  One day, I came in and they wanted me to spar.  I was nervous about someone actually punching me in the face, but I did it. Unreal. One year she’s making drunks drool in KC and the next she straps on the gloves and learns how to throw a haymaker. Check out video footage from her first amateur fight below. She’s next slated to get in the ring on January 25 at Harrah’s in Kansas City. [h/t Cage Potato] Filed under: Combat Sports, Girls, MMA
