UFC Welterweight Rick Story

Christmas has come early for Rick Story (Pictured), sort of. Losing two consecutive scraps inside the Octagon doesn’t typically warrant a contract extension, but the UFC welterweight has inked a four-fight deal to remain with the world’s premier mixed martial arts organization.

However, the news isn’t all good for Story. The 27-year-old also announced he injured his knee during last Saturday’s split decision loss to Martin Kampmann.

“I wanted to apologize to all of my fans for my last performance I ruptured my bursa sack and tore my meniscus in the second round. I lost all strength and made it difficult to fight,” Story tweeted. “But I just signed a new 4 fight contract with the UFC so be ready for me to fight again soon!”

What a difference a half-year can make. After capping off a six-fight winning streak with a lopsided decision victory over former top contender Thiago Alves in May, Story has since gone on to drop two straight bouts.

Prior to losing to Kampmann, he was defeated by Charlie Brenneman at “UFC on Versus 4.”
