UFC middleweight and leg lock specialist Rousimar Palhares is considering a move down to the welterweight division. Palhares is the shortest guy in the middleweight division and is given up considerable reach and height to most of his opponents. The Brazilian is 0-2 in his last two fights and is in the middle of a nine month long suspension for elevated levels of testosterone. Palhares is taking this weight cut serious and has this to say about the process.
“My desire to get down to the welterweight division is great, but I don’t want to make a hasty decision. I will only really do it if my body’s response is positive. I’m doing a fully integrated work of nutrition, fitness, supplementation and orthomolecular medicine. I’m with a very good team taking care of me.”
This is the time to make a test cut as Palhares is ineligible to fight for some time now. We wish him best of luck with the weight and would love to see him test his skills at 170 pounds.
