Former PRIDE Heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira has been the latest fighter to fall a victim to the curse of UFC 149. It's not surprising that the injury that forced Nogueira to withdraw from this upcoming contest had to do with his humerus not being completely recovered. Stepping in to fight Cheick Kongo on relatively short notice will be a Jackson's MMA product in Shawn "The Savage" Jordan. Sherdog reported the news of this switch earlier this evening.
Shawn Jordan finished his promotional debut this past March in Sydney by demolishing Brit strongman Oli Thompson with a lethal barrage of strikes, and a knee for good measure. This victory improved the former Strikeforce and Bellator fighter to a 13-3 record. A win over a name like Cheick Kongo would mean more than any win on that current record for Jordan, putting him right in "don't look back" mode, there would be no more easy fights for Jordan after this.

The only fight that was on the original announcement for UFC 149, has now been scrapped. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira has not fully healed from his broken arm which occurred at UFC 140 on December 10, 2011, and has been forced to withdraw. Replacing him will be Strikeforce veteran Shawn Jordan (13-3).
UFC officials announced the new match-up on Saturday.
