Heavyweight Tim Sylvia

The UFC’s heavyweight class remains one of the company’s most depth-deprived. One of the division’s former champions is anxious to end his four-year Octagon hiatus and help bolster the UFC’s 265-pound roster.

On Valentine’s Day, Tim Sylvia (Pictured) posted a video on The Underground expressing how much he’d love to get back into the big leagues. However, he can’t do it alone and is pleading for help.

“I’m trying to get back into the UFC and I think I deserve to be there,” Sylvia expressed. “I was in the UFC back when there was five to six shows a year. Now there are shows every three weeks, so they have to put guys in like [Christian] Morecraft, Joey Beltran, Stefan Struve – the list goes on and on.

“I don’t understand why any of these guys are in the UFC, and to be frankly honest, I think I’d knock them out in the 1stRound.”

Between 2002-2008, Sylvia fought 13 for the planet’s premier mixed martial arts promotion. Nine of those scraps were of the championship variety, with him winning the crown on two separate occasions.

Sylvia wasn’t brought back after getting submitted by Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in an interim title fight at UFC 81. Since his departure, the 35-year-old hasn’t been impressed with the heavyweight product the UFC has showcased.

“I can beat 80 percent of the guys in the UFC,” Sylvia flatly stated. “If you don’t feel that I can, how about you just make a push and try to get me into the UFC just to see me get my ass kicked?

“I’ve done more than any other heavyweight in the UFC division has currently. The only other heavyweight who has done what I have done is Randy Couture.”

“The Maine-iac” is asking fans to bombard UFC president Dana White on Twitter to give him another opportunity. Unfortunately for Sylvia, his chances of a comeback will be hampered by Strikeforce transitioning their heavyweight talent over to the UFC.

Sylvia has posted a 6-3 record since his time inside the Octagon. He was last seen hanging a unanimous decision victory over Andreas Kraniotakes at “Pro Elite: Big Guns.”
