On Monday, the Office of the Athletics Commissioner of Ontario medically suspended every athlete who competed in Saturday’s “UFC 165: Jones vs. Gustafsson” event. The majority of the lineup received a mandatory 14-day ban, while eight fighters could be riding the pine for longer. The most notable names who were handed longer suspensions are UFC light heavyweight king Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson (pictured), who put on an instant classic in the show’s featured attraction. Both 205-pounders could be sidelined for up to two months. However, just like the other six who also appeared on the extended layoff list, they can return to action sooner with a doctor’s note. While Jones and Gustafsson were rushed to the hospital immediately after their 25-minute shootout, it has been reported by various outlets that both were released Sunday after being cleared of any major injuries. Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada hosted UFC 165. Here is the card’s official IR list: Jon Jones: Suspended 60 days. Requires CT scan and X-ray prior to return. Alexander Gustafsson: Suspended 60 days. Requires CT scan prior to return. Eddie Wineland: Suspended 60 days. Requires CT scan prior to return. Matthew Mitrione: Suspended 30 days. Requires CT scan prior to return. Mike Ricci: Suspended 30 days. Requires X-ray prior to return. Chris Clements: Suspended 60 days. Requires CT scan prior to return. Renee Forte: Suspended 60 days. Requires CT scan prior to return. Nandor Guelmino: Suspended 60 days. Requires CT scan prior to return. Card’s other 18 fighters: Suspended 14 days for precautionary reasons.
