UFC boss Dana White teases meeting with Khabib Nurmagomedov

UFC boss Dana White generated buzz throughout the mixed martial arts community when he tweeted a video on Friday that showed him meeting with former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Widely viewed as one of the greatest and most accomplished overall competitors in UFC history, Nurmagomedov retired minutes after he improved to 29-0 as a pro with a dominant victory over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 in October. The 32-year-old then-champion explained at the time that retiring was his mother's wish following his father's death in July.

However, Nurmagomedov and UFC legend Georges St-Pierre (26-2-0) have expressed interest in a superfight between the two that would also serve as a walkoff contest for both men regardless of the match's result. Less than a week after Nurmagomedov called time on his fighting career, White told Zach Gelb of CBS Sports that he believed Nurmagomedov wanted to retire with a perfect 30-0 mark.

In December, White informed TMZ Sports that he would be meeting with Nurmagomedov at some point in January.

"He and I are gonna sit down, gonna meet next month, and we're gonna find out how persuasive I can be," White explained.

"I'll bet on me every time," he added about those negotiations.

White, Nurmagomedov and fight fans everywhere could end up the big winners of these talks when all is said and done.
