When Michael Chandler submitted Eddie Alvarez (Pictured) to snap his seven-fight winning streak and steal his Bellator lightweight title, many wondered if Alvarez’s best days were behind him. However, “The Silent Assassin” quickly killed that chatter by slapping Shinya Aoki silly this past Saturday.

Everybody loves a winner, and now that Alvarez has managed to right the ship, the soon-to-be free agent has once again piqued the UFC’s interest.

“I think Eddie Alvarez is a great fighter,” UFC president Dana White said Saturday night. “You know us, man. We’re always looking to get the best fighters in the world in the UFC and he’s one of them.”

Immediately following Alvarez’s dominant performance, UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta tweeted, “@edalvarezfight hey been meaning to introduce myself.”

Alvarez still has one fight remaining on his Bellator contract, but minutes after putting Aoki down, he tore a page out of Rod Tidwell’s book and told Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney to “show me the money.”

The 28-year-old pocketed $100,000 for his TKO win over Aoki, with half of his check coming via win bonus.

Former UFC lightweight champ Frankie Edgar only made $102,000 (including a $51,000 win bonus) for his UFC 125 scrap with Gray Maynard. Courtesy of the spectacular show they put on, White reward both fighters with their win bonuses despite fighting to a draw.

Edgar’s salary for UFC 136 was not disclosed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and his paycheck for UFC 144 was also kept secret because it took place in Japan.

Just in case you were wondering, Strikeforce 155-pound champ Gilbert Melendez scored a flat $150,000 salary for December’s victory over Jorge Masvidal.

Which leads one to wonder; is the UFC really interested in bringing Alvarez on at his current rate, or are they just trying to drive up the price to make their biggest competitor invest more of their limited budget on merely one fighter?

Either way, Alvarez’s bank account will never be the same.
