UFC Erick Silva

A star was born Friday night at “UFC on FX 3.” Erick Silva (Pictured) continued his ascent up the welterweight totem pole by quickly tapping out Charlie Brenneman with a rear-naked choke in the opening round of their shootout.

Silva’s performance was also good enough to earn him an extra $40,000 for ‘Submission of the Night’ honors.

Erasing his controversial disqualification defeat to Carlo Prater in his last outing, the 27-year-old hasn’t sniffed the loss column since December of 2006.

BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida hosted last night’s festivities.
