UFC president Dana White has seen this dog and pony show before. Actually, let’s use the terminology coined by Nick Diaz (Pictured), “beauty pageant.” That’s why White is taking no chances in case Diaz decides to pull a – well, Nick Diaz – heading into his blockbuster bout with reigning welterweight king Georges St-Pierre at UFC 158. “There’s no guarantees with Nick Diaz,” White admitted Saturday. “I’ve got nine welterweights on the show that are all in the top five. So if he falls out, we’ll still have a GSP fight.” (Nine welterweights that are all in the top five? I’m not quite sure how that math works out, but okay.) Diaz was originally slated to challenge St-Pierre in the most anticipated 170-pound affair in MMA history at UFC 137. However, Diaz was yanked from the pay-per-view broadcast after ditching back-to-back “beauty pageants” to promote the October 2011 extravaganza. Even when Diaz was later reassigned to fight BJ Penn in the same event, Mr. 209 reportedly missed multiple flights to Las Vegas and checked in later than the UFC anticipated. When asked if White plans on personally babysitting Diaz to ensure he stays on the straight and narrow leading up to the March 16th scrap, White claims he goes through Diaz’s manager because he can never get a hold of the former Strikeforce champion. “Nick? No,” White responded when probed if he speaks with the controversial grappler directly. “I talk to Cesar [Gracie]. I text Nick, call Nick, he’s MIA. You can’t get him. I talk to Cesar.” If all goes according to plan, GSP vs. Diaz will finally come to fruition at UFC 158. IF…

Dana White Not Surprised by Bellator’s Marketing Tactics

Marketing 101 preaches for companies to advertise where their target market will be. If you’re looking to get the word out on a groundbreaking cooking product, put your ads on the Food Network. If a brand new toy is set to hit store shelves, the Disney Channel is where you want to plaster your bright and shiny gadget. That’s why UFC president Dana White (Pictured) isn’t the...

Dana White outlines why the UFC is light years ahead of other orgs in social media

I’ll admit it, I got into Twitter because of the UFC, and the only reason I have Facebook is to watch UFC preliminary fights, so they got me. The UFC has been heralded as kings of social media, they dominate it. From the fighters to the PR people to the president himself, Dana White, everyone [...]

Dana White explains his decision to have Ronda Rousey headline UFC 157

There seems to be a lot of confusion over the decision to have Ronda Rousey headline UFC 157, considering no female has ever even fought in the UFC, let alone headline. But the same could be said for Demetrious Johnson and Ian McCall. Before them, no flyweights had ever headlined a card when they did [...]

Dana White: UFC Doing Georges St-Pierre a Favor with Nick Diaz Fight

Countless old school mixed martial arts pundits threw tantrums when the UFC announced reigning welterweight king Georges St-Pierre (Pictured) would make his next title defense against Nick Diaz, a fighter who is coming off a loss and is currently serving a year-long marijuana drug suspension, instead of Johny Hendricks, who UFC president Dana White dubbed as the division’s top...

Dana White says Bob Arum is the dumbest promoter in the history of the world

We know Dana White is a huge boxing fan, we also know that he doesn’t really respect Bob Arum. For years these two have thrown verbal jabs at each other, trying to bust the other open to bleed humility. In the latest battle of their on-going war, Dana White goes into detail about the Manny [...]

Barry, Waldburger, Elliott and Papazian Earn Bonuses at ‘The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale’

After a spectacular night of MMA action, UFC president Dana White awarded Pat Barry (Pictured), T.J. Waldburger, Tim Elliott and Jared Papazian each an additional $40,000 for their special performances Saturday night at “The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale.” Nine of the night’s 11 scraps ended before the final horn, so White had plenty of bouts to choose from. After losing the opening...

UFC president Dana White blames Bob Arum for Manny Pacquiao’s recent loss

Promoters have one job and that is to attract people to their event.  Whether this is a promoter for a club or a sporting event, most specifically the sport of boxing.  Dollar signs mean more than quality fights these days in boxing.  One prominent voice in combat sports has made his opinions known.  UFC president Dana White blames Top Rank CEO Bob Arum for Manny Pacquiao losing...

Dana White Blasts Bob Arum for ‘Pacquiao vs. Marquez 4′

One of the many great things about being a sports fan and a gambler is that you can win, even when your team loses. If I don’t think the Lakers are going to beat someone, let alone cover the spread, I’ll lay money on the other squad. There’s no shame in my game. If the Lakers end up victorious, I’ll still feel warm and fuzzy inside despite the financial setback because the...
