Just because the UFC is taking a three-week hiatus doesn’t mean there wasn’t any action between their fighters this Saturday. During today’s Olympia Expo in Las Vegas, Wanderlei Silva (pictured) was in hot pursuit of bitter rival Chael Sonnen, and the Brazilian wasn’t looking to make nice. Sonnen has been doing everything in his power to arrange a tango with Silva, including calling him a pile of “carp” after submitting Mauricio “Shogun” Rua last month. Unfortunately for Sonnen, “The Axe Murderer” is sidelined with a back injury until January and had to settle for meeting Rashad Evans at UFC 167. However, Silva’s dinged up back didn’t prevent him from trying to ding up Uncle Chael in public. Larry Pepe of Pro MMA Now obtained the footage of today’s confrontation from a camera phone. The video is quite pixelated, but it’s certainly better than nothing. “Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen almost came blows at Olympia expo. Screaming at each other, @wandfc pointing then restrained and led away,” Pepe tweeted. “Wand sought Sonnen out and was the aggressor in the confrontation.” Sonnen also addressed the incident via Twitter, suggesting UFC lightweight champ Anthony Pettis came to his defense, “Thanks for having my back, Champ. @showtimepettis Full story Wednesday, @UFCTonight.” I have never looked more forward to an episode of UFC Tonight since the show debuted.
