Now that Bellator has placed a stranglehold on Thursday night, and of course the UFC continues to dominate more Saturdays than not, it's going to become tougher and tougher to pick just 3 stars each weekend. You'll never find us complaining about more fights over here at hov-mma. More fights means more violence. Alright, enough of the small talk, enough of the tomfoolery, let's get down to it. Here are your Weekend in Violence 3 stars.

1st Star - Khabib Nurmagomedov

Undefeated Russian Sambo practitioner Khabib Nurmagomedov (or K-Dov as Dan Rose so aptly calls him) ran his record up to 19-0 this past weekend. That's impressive. But you know what's really impressive? How he did it. A lead left uppercut that found the mark on his opponent, hometown favorite Thiago Tavares, followed by more unanswered shots with his right than should have been allowed put everyone in the 155 pound division on notice. I doubt anyone is looking to fight this guy, there's nothing to gain and everything to lose, including your consciousness.

Nurmagomedov finishing Tavares wasn't a shocker. The man is a beast. The way he did it though, again not shocking, but really just a beautiful display of violence. When he had Tavares down he held onto the head of his opponent with his left hand while he battered him with his right fist and elbow. It even hypnotized referee Dan Mirgiliotta, who came in to stop the fight just a tad bit late. Nurmagomedov, you can also call him "The Eagle," went on to call out former #1 contender Nate Diaz after his vulgar display of power in enemy territory. While that may be one or two too many steps up the ladder at the moment for K-Dov, it would make for one hell of a match up that could actually favor the AKA product. Personally I'd like to see him take on fellow Soviet Rustam Khabilov, but seeing that both train at AKA, that match up is highly unlikely.

2nd Star - Vitor Belfort

After all of the smack talk Belfort had to endure from Michael Bisping, the verbal jabs about his love of Jesus and his past with TRT, it was Vitor that landed the final shot. It was the well timed left chin kick that landed on the right side of Bisping's head that people will remember, not the words that came from Bisping's mouth leading up to the fight.  Belfort has always been a major threat throughout his career, he's a lock for the UFC Hall of Fame and a veteran of the game who's accomplished more in the first few years of his career than most will in a lifetime of competition.

The scary thing about Belfort now though is that at 35-years-old he's looking better than ever. I attribute that to a rebirth of sorts for Belfort since he started training with the Blackzilians. Last night in Brazil - the Overeemesque mohawk, the cockiness inside of the cage, simply the way he looked opposite Bisping - this Vitor Belfort is just as scary as the one that came roaring out the gate way back at UFC 12. When I look up and down the list of contenders at 185 and 205, it's really tough to see anyone that could dethrone Anderson Silva or Jon Jones. Maybe it'll take a man that's faced both of them already. Maybe this Vitor Belfort is that man.

3rd Star - Michael Chandler

Proud Mizzoui alum Michael Chandler is becoming one of the most dangerous finishers in the lightweight division today. The way Chandler dominated a fighter in Rick Hawn that has made a career of giving other men fits, it makes one wonder - who can beat this guy? His fight against Eddie Alvarez remains the best in the promotions history, and the way he took out Rick Hawn Saturday night further proved that it wasn't just a fluke. Chandler bulldogged Hawn all over the mat where he would eventually sink his hooks in and choke his opponent out via the rear naked.   With a record of 11-0 and nothing but stiff competition coming to attempt to rip away his belt, Michael Chandler has quickly cemented himself as one of the Top 3 lightweights in the world right behind Benson Henderson and Gilbert Melendez.

Honorable Mention: Savant Young has to get a mention here. The "Black Superman" caught Mike "The Joker" Guymon with a left as he foolishly rushed in, and followed it up with a right as he was already asleep on the canvas. Guymom left the arena with four facial fractures and a broken jaw. Check it out on the playlist below. Apologies for not being able to find a Michael Chandler highlight.
