Alex Bowman blames Chase Briscoe for disappointing finish on HMS’s historical night at Martinsville
Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

Hendrick Motorsports came to Martinsville with special Ruby Red paint-schemes to celebrate their 40th anniversary of first race win. Willaim Byron made the day more memorable by winning the race in overtime, while his teammate Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott impressed by securing the remaining positions in the podium.

But the teams’ fourth driver Alex Bowman was able to savage a P8 finish, despite having a car as fats as their teammates. What’s more disappointing for him is the fact that he started the race on P10 while his teammate Willaim Byron who won the race was at p18 when the race started, showing how mistakes in execution cost him a solid finish.

After the race, while speaking to the media, Bowman pointed out that Stewart Haas Racing’s Chase Briscoe has a serious role to play in his result. On the final restart during overtime The No:14 Ford didn’t give him any space and raced him aggressively in all four corners costing him a chance to move up and secure at least a top-5 finish.

I didn’t stand a chance, 14 drove through me all four corners. So, just tough there to lose a couple of spots. But that’s short track racing hard of it at times. So yeah, moving on next week, hopefully it’s good for us, but a great day for Hendrick motorsports. Alex Bowman said.

Alex Bowman details the struggles he had all day at Martinsville

Bowman before giving the Chase Briscoe verdict had detailed the struggles he faced the whole day. He pointed out that the team struggled a lot in the last two runs and said that the No:48 was too tight most of the day at Virginia.

Wish we would have had a little better day with our Ally 48. The last two runs, we just struggled a lot. We tightened up all day and then the racetrack got black and finally, we got on the other side of it and got too tight. Alex Bowman said.

The No:48 have been to victory lane over 50 races and with the recent consistency they have found, they would be hoping to end the streak soon. With the dominate form his teammates Byron and Larson is in, Bowman cant afford to winless for very long as questions will start to arise about him remaining at HMS.
