Tilton/Getty Images On the same day that his Michael Waltrip Racing team announced that they will be downsizing to just two full-time Sprint Cup Series teams in 2014, Brian Vickers also revealed that he is suffering from blood clots again. “If there’s anything to be positive about with today’s news it’s that this is only a temporary setback,” said Vickers. “The timing for this is never good, but I’m glad we’ll get it out of the way now and be ready to run for a championship with the Aaron’s Dream Machine in 2014.” Vickers of course missed the final 25 races of the 2010 season after blood clots in his lungs punched a hole in his heart which required surgery. The latest blood clot for Vickers was discovered in his leg, but his physicians are optimistic that he will be able to return to his every day life — which includes driving race cars — before the start of 2014.
