Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) head to the desert this weekend as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) makes its second to last stop in the 2012 season. Dave Blaney will pilot the No. 36 Accell Construction Chevrolet in the AdvoCare 500 at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR). TBR AT PHOENIX – TBR made eight starts at PIR since the team’s inception in 2009. The team tallied its best start and finish of 23rd earlier this season with Blaney behind the wheel. BLANEY AT PHOENIX – The Buckeye Bullet made 19 PIR starts since his debut in 2000. He finished in the top-10 twice, with his best finish of seventh in 2002. Blaney’s best start was fifth, also in the 2002 fall event. CHASSIS NO. 293 – Blaney will drive the No. 293 chassis. The Harford, Ohio native’s best start with the No. 293 chassis was 17th at Richmond last season and best finish was 23rd at Phoenix earlier this season. TBR purchased the chassis from Richard Childress Racing, where Jeff Burton drove the chassis prior to its debut with TBR.  ACCELL CONSTRUCTION – During the 2011 season, Accell Construction, an Oklahoma-based company, sponsored the No. 36 Chevrolet for six primary events, as well as associate races. Accell Construction, a full-service site civil contractor for the petroleum terminal and bulk storage industries, specializes in tank farm construction, tank foundations and other related site civil construction. The 20-year old company operates civil construction projects in numerous states across the U.S. RACE FOR SANDY – Long Island, N.Y., native, Tommy Baldwin will team with fellow Long Island native and NASCAR.com Cameraman/Analyst Matthew Dillner, Feed the Children and Motor Racing Outreach (MRO) as they Race for Sandy this weekend. Utilizing donations through feedthechildren.org/raceforsandy, Feed the Children will send much needed food and supplies to the Long Island area hit by Hurricane Sandy. Tommy Baldwin Racing and the No. 36 Accell Construction Chevrolet will promote the effort in Sunday’s AdvoCare 500. IN THE POINTS – The No. 36 Chevrolet is currently in the 35th position in NSCS Owner Points. The team is 72 points ahead of the No. 21 in the 36th spot and trails the No. 32 by 74 points. Blaney is in the 33rd position in NSCS Driver Points. He is 66 points behind A.J. Allmendinger and 28 points ahead of teammate David Reutimann. DAVE BLANEY ON RACING THIS WEEKEND – “I’m excited to have Accell back on the car this weekend. Ryan won the K&N race last fall with Accell at Phoenix, so it’s special to team up with them again here. The shorter-type tracks like Phoenix are tracks where we have had good runs. I really like the racetrack since they reconfigured it. I think the racing will be better this weekend than last year. The repave made the track unique. The way we go three-wide through the backstretch gives a different element than anywhere else we race.”
