The longest two weeks for Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his legion of fans is officially over as Earnhardt has officially been cleared to race this Sunday at Martinsville. According to a press release from Hendrick Motorsports he completed 123 laps during a test session at the half-mile Gresham Motorsports Park. Overseeing the test session was Dr. Jerry Petty, because this was Earnhardt’s final post-concussion test.
“Dale Jr. has done everything asked of him,” Petty said. ”He hasn’t had a headache since Oct. 12, and we have not been able to provoke any symptoms since that time. I have informed NASCAR and Hendrick Motorsports that he is medically cleared for all NASCAR-related activity.”
Earnhardt snapped a winless drought of four years when he visited victory lane at Michigan earlier this season. With how unbearable that stretch of mediocrity seemed, at least Earnhardt was on track. He...
