Kyle Busch, driver of the No.18 M&M’s Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing is starting on the pole for this weekends Advocare 500 at Phoenix International Raceway.
Martin Truex Jr. was on the provisional pole. He stood watching, crossing his fingers in anticipation during Busch’s run. Busch was the last car out and set a new track record of 138.766 for not only the tracks new configuration but the old one as well.
This is the No.18 teams second pole of the 2012 season.
Current NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points leader, Jimmie Johnson struggled to have a solid qualifying run and will start 24th, while Brad Keselowski will start in front of him in 14th position.
J.J Yeley failed to qualify.

AdvoCare 500 from Phoenix First Practice Times
Kyle Busch led the way with a lap of 26.127 seconds in the first practice for the AdvoCare 500 from Phoenix. Rounding out the top five was Denny Hamlin, Clint Bowyer, Kasey Kahne, and Martin Truex, Jr. Championship leaders Jimmie Johnson (27th) and Brad Keselowski (21st) didn’t show the speed fans would expect out of them.
