GAFFNEY, S.C. – Mike Wallace drove the No. 01 Mac’s Pride Chevy to a 25th place finish Friday, May 10th at Darlington Raceway. The homecoming weekend for JD Motorsports started on Friday morning as the team went through practice and qualifying for the race on Friday night. The veteran Wallace finished the lone practice session 25th, and backed it up by qualifying 25th for the race. As the race began, the No. 01 Mac’s Pride Chevy advanced into the top-20 before a series of pit stops after a lap 25 caution. The crew went to work and reeled off a great stop, putting Wallace back out 20th. The next phase of the race included a long, and unexpected, green flag run. During this time, the No. 01 machine was caught one lap down after a fierce battle with leader Kyle Busch to remain on the lead lap. As the laps winded down, Wallace brought the car down pit road for four tires and fuel. At the finish, the team crossed the line 25th. The finish moved Wallace up to 18th in the Driver’s Standings. Mike Wallace Quotes: “This was a good weekend for JD Motorsports. We both finished top-25, neither car was wrecked, and both are back in the top-30 in Owner’s Points. I am proud of our small team this weekend and what we accomplished. We ended up going a lap down which prevented us from gaining many spots at the end, but we had a competitive car all night, with great pit stops.”

Don't mistake good racing for feuding

You know, a few weeks ago at Talladega, I was in the garage area and did an interview with Kyle Busch. It was following the incident between him and Kasey Kahne. Sometime later, I also got to talk to Kasey about his reaction. When I was with Kyle, I could definitely see some remorse and actual frustration with himself over what had happened. We all know that Kyle is an aggressive...

NASCAR New Rivalry: Busch Vs. Kahne

It was like baseball, Kasey Kahne gave Kyle Busch two free passes. Then came the third strike and he’s out. It started out at Daytona where the two drivers made contact and both were able to chalk it up as restrictor plate racing. Then there was two races ago, when Busch got into Kahne again to trigger a big wreck. Busch talked to Kahne, manned up and they were all good. Then the...

NASCAR Barometer All-Star Race

Darlington Raceway played host to the NASCAR Sprint Cup series Saturday evening, an event that almost every driver loves. While the track's pavement is a lot smoother than it used to be, the racing is still very tough and takes skill and plenty of bravery to run as close to the wall as possible in what some consider a two-lane groove. Joe Gibbs Racing's Kyle Busch leapt...

Joe Gibbs teams challenge Hendrick

There's a power shift occurring in the Sprint Cup garage. Hendrick Motorsports has long been considered NASCAR's juggernaut, but in 2013, Joe Gibbs Racing has raised the bar. With five wins this season -- three victories by JGR newcomer Matt Kenseth and two by Kyle Busch -- the company has collected nearly half the hardware. On Saturday night, Gibbs' Toyotas nearly...
