TALLADEGA, Ala. – The No.6 Cargill Beef Ford Mustang was again one of the fastest cars on the track at Talladega Superspeedway before Roush Fenway’s Trevor Bayne was caught up in the middle of a massive crash. Talladega is known for such multi-car accidents and Bayne was knocked out of Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race after 92 laps, landing in 28th place in the Aaron’s 312. “It stinks to have a finish like that,” said Bayne after the race. “There was nothing we could do to really avoid it. I got in the middle of it with nowhere to go.” Before the crash, Bayne and the No. 6 Cargill team were running strong. Bayne led two laps and spent several more in the top ten. Bayne said showing so much speed at NASCAR’s longest track made the results especially frustrating, “I hate it for the team because we had such a fast car again this week.” The finish earned the No. 6 team another 17 points; enough to keep them in the top 10 in the NNS standings. By rounding out the top-ten, Bayne is 75 points behind the new NNS points leader, Regan Smith.
