Found April 26, 2012 on The Sports Bank:
When the Philadelphia 76ers drafted Evan Turner #2 overall out of Ohio State in 2010, they thought they were selecting a franchise cornerstone. Finishing his college basketball career with the Buckeyes, he was as highly decorated as a player can be- sweeping all the national individual awards. His rookie year did anything but live up to the hype however. Turner really struggled to find a position and his way in Coach Doug Collins‘ rotation. He’s really found himself as a one now in the league. But in his debut season he was playing a lot of two and three. Hence, his rookie numbers were brutal. This season though, is a new chapter. The Chicago product has earned more playing time and his numbers have improved across the board. And in the season’s second to last game, Turner started and scored a new career high in points with 29. He had 10 points in the first quarter, 15 at half, and essentially iced the game for the Sixers with a free throw (putting Philly up four) at 7.4 seconds l...

Evan Turner really wants the Chicago Bulls in NBA Playoffs

Philadelphia 76ers guard and 2010 #2 overall pick Evan Turner is looking forward to a potential  match-up against his hometown Chicago Bulls. After Turner scored a career high 29 points on the Milwaukee Bucks last night, I asked Turner about the potential first round playoff match-up with the Bulls. “We probably match-up better with them, they’re by far the best team in the...

Evan Turner said Sixers wanted Bulls because Heat are tougher for them

The first-round playoff series between the Bulls and 76ers got much more exciting thanks to some comments from Evan Turner. The Sixers guard was asked last weekend what it would mean to play the Bulls in the playoffs, and he answered candidly. “It means we’re dodging the tougher team. That’s what I think,” Turner told the Delaware County Daily Times. “I think we’ll be...

Philadelphia 76ers clinch playoff berth for second-straight season

Thanks to a 105-87 win over the Brooklyn New Jersey Nets on Monday night, the Philadelphia 76ers have clinched a playoff berth for the fourth time in the last five seasons. At one point the Sixers looked like the favorite to win the Atlantic Division after running out to a 20-9 schedule padded start in the strike-shortened 66 game season. However, the Sixers’ offensive woes and...

Bulls-76ers preview: Stats say series will be dominated by defense

Philadelphia 76ers guard Evan Turner might have been right when he said the Sixers match up better with the Chicago Bulls, their opponents in the first round of the playoffs, than the Miami Heat. But it doesn't mean the Sixers match up well. The Sixers, 20-9 at one point this season, struggled thereafter and finished 35-31, leaving them the Eastern Conference's eighth...

Too Many Minutes for Meeks

It has been quite the rollercoaster of a season for Philadelphia’s 76ers, one which included a stint at the top of ESPN’s power rankings, as well as a slump that had many speculating as to whether the team would even be able to push into the postseason. Despite this inconsistency, the team was able to clinch their second consecutive playoff birth this week, and head into the...

Bucks host Philadelphia in home finale

This could have been a crucial game in determining which team would earn the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Instead, the Philadelphia 76ers are preparing for their second consecutive postseason while the Milwaukee Bucks are getting ready for another long summer going into their matchup Wednesday night. Philadelphia (34-30) had a three-game lead over the Bucks (31...

Philadelphia 76ers 90, Milwaukee Bucks 85

MILWAUKEE -- What only a week ago was supposed to be a critical game between the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night was instead a rather meaningless one. With the 76ers having already nudged out the Bucks for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, neither team had much at stake in the Bradley Center. But despite using patched-up...

76ers-Pistons Preview

Despite a largely rough final two months of the season, the Philadelphia 76ers have played well down the stretch. The visiting 76ers hope to build even more momentum heading into the playoffs with a fifth consecutive victory in Thursday night's regular-season finale against the Detroit Pistons. Philadelphia (35-30) had a four-game lead in the Atlantic Division on Feb. 13, but...

Pistons 108, 76ers 86

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- While the playoff-bound Philadelphia 76ers rested a handful of their regulars, the Detroit Pistons' season finale was a tale of two Bens. Reserve guard Ben Gordon poured in 26 points, including eight 3-pointers, as the Pistons cruised to a 108-86 victory over the 76ers at The Palace on Thursday night. Center Ben Wallace, playing perhaps the final game...

#1 Bulls vs. #8 Sixers Playoff Series Preview: Homecoming Edition

Tomorrow at noon the #1 vs. #8 Chicago Bulls vs. Philadelphia 76ers playoff series tips off. This first round match-up of the NBA playoffs has a distinctive “homecoming” feel to it. Doug Collins who coached the Bulls for many years in the 1980s as Phil Jackson’s predecessor, was almost signed as the coach again in 2008. The job went to Vinny Del Negro instead; who has since...
