Celtics Green ...a boston celtics blog.:
After their thrilling win over the Pacers, the Celtics will head home for a meeting with the Hawks. The Hawks currently sit a game ahead of Boston for the six seed in the east, so this one will be very important. Recently, the C's have looked unbeatable at home, and I kinda expect that to continue. The only reason why I won't guarantee a win is because you can't. Last week, the Celtics won a home game over an equally good Warriors team. If they play like that on Friday then they have the big win. Here are Friday's five things:
5. GET SOME MORE FREE THROWS:
In Indiana, the Celtics only managed to get nine free throws. Free throws are really easy points, so it's nice to get them. When you're contested, don't fade away, lean in.
4. GET STOPS AFTER POINTS:
This may seem like an obvious one, because it is. But the Celtics struggled at doing this a lot against the Pacers. When you make a big shot, get back on defense. Don't give it right back.
3. GET BASS MORE SHOTS:
Brandon Bass is a guy with a solid shot and big guy body. For some reason, he never gets shots. I think he deserves more because right now he is nothing but wasted talent.
2. GET PIERCE HOT:
On Wednesday, Paul Pierce scored a solid 13 points but only shot 4/15 from the field. He's been a very inconsistent player this year and he needs to have more stretches of good games.
1. DON'T FEEL ANY PRESSURE:
Against the Pacers, the Celtics trailed basically the whole game. The reason why they won: they stayed focused. They didn't care what the score was and naturally won the game.
Tip-off for Friday's game will be at 8:00 pm ET. Live Game Updates will be available here.

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite...
According to Forsberg of the worldwide leader local branch, Paul Pierce is now battling a bone bruise on his left knee. He suffered the injury in Philly, but it appeared to affect his play last night in Indiana shooting just 4 of 15 for just 13 points. He did play 34 minutes which is a good sign, but was seen with an ice pack on his knee in postgame interviews. I wouldn’t expect...
Unthinkable as it may seem given his recent stellar play, Paul Pierce will one day play his final game in a Celtics uniform.
That could be as soon as this summer, in fact. The Celtics have a $5 million buyout in Pierce’s contract, which becomes guaranteed for more than $15 million if he is still on the roster come July. The team therefore has to decide whether the $10 million savings...
The Boston Celtics ultimately held onto veteran players Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, as well as guard Rajon Rondo, through this season’s trade deadline. However, the club nearly dealt Pierce in a three-team trade that also involved the Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports. As much as any of the proposed deals discussed in February...
Paul Pierce was very nearly traded for Josh Smith at the deadline. We knew that Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were both in danger of being traded at the deadline this season, but according to Yahoo!’s Adrian Wojnarowski, who is usually right about such things, the deal may have been as close as Pierce has come to leaving the Celtics in his career. From the Yahoo! article:Before the...
There was no brilliantly devised play call this time. If the Celtics’ last gut-check victory was an example of Paul Pierce‘s abilities as a $17 million decoy, their latest was a reminder in exactly why Doc Rivers usually puts the ball in this guy’s hands in the clutch.
The most polarizing topic among Celtics fans might not be whether the team is better without Rajon Rondo or...
There is a famous scene in “Star Wars: A New Hope” where Han Solo and Chewbacca are fleeing from an angry and clumsy group of Stormtroopers trying to make their way to the Milennium Falcon. As they are running down the corridor, you can hear one of the troopers yell ‘CLOSE THE BLAST DOORS!’ As the doors are slowly closing, Han and Chewie hop through cleanly, leaving all...

Paul Pierce had 27 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. Jason Terry had 19 points and 5 assists, along with the biggest shot of the night: a 3-pointer to up the Celtics up 3 with 35 seconds left in overtime...

The Boston Celtics took care of business on the defensive end Sunday in a 91-79 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, but weren't successful on the offensive end. The Celtics held the Thunder to 44.1 percent shooting and didn't let
It always amazes me when there is a team like the Hawks that is playing well and yet their fans aren't really behind them. Unlike the Raptors, who aren't playing so well, yet have over a hundred pages on 3 or 4 different boards, it's hard to find an active game thread for the Hawks. I mean, even the Bobcats have a more loyal following than the Hawks. I say...
Finally, Doc Rivers listens to the fans and calls a play at the end of the game that isn't just a Paul Pierce iso. And it was awesome.
Best win of the year? Best play of the year? Yes on both accounts.

Let me be honest: This game was billed as a potential playoff preview but Indiana is a team I’d rather avoid. The Pacers are a very good team, probably the only real challenger to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference. A Celtics-Pacers series sounds like a more graceful version of last year’s grindy Celtics-76ers tilt, except this time the odds wouldn’t be in the Celtics...
Scouts don't like Boston's chances against Miami.ESPN’s basketball scribe Marc Stein caught up with several NBA scouts on his Weekend Dime, and one Eastern Conference scout didn’t have good things to say about the Boston’s chances against the Heat.Eastern Conference scout on the ceiling for the Rajon Rondo-less Celtics:“I’ll buy your [contention] that they’re...
There is no love lost between the Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics. Ever since the teams clashed through seven hard-fought games in the first round of the 2008 Playoffs, it seems, both teams have had each others' number. There have been matchups, dustups and confrontations - with notable incidents involving Paul Pierce and Al Horford, Jeff Teague and Ray Allen (to which KG...
