Found January 05, 2013 on Celtics Green ...a boston celtics blog.:
The Celtics just beat a pretty good Pacers team by 19 last night in Boston, and must now face an equally good team in the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks currently sit at 20-11, which is good for third place in the eastern conference. So it obviously won't be an easy game. But if the C's play like they did yesterday then there's no way that they'll end up losing. We'll just have to see. Here are tonight's 5 keys to victory: 5. GET GREEN GOING: One of the few players who played bad yesterday was Jeff Green. This guy is the Celtics' mystery man. He will score 30 one night, and 2 the next. He needs to start making his shots because I'm losing my patience with him. He is payed too much to just be decent. 4. MORE CONSISTENCY FROM TERRY: Like Green, Terry was awful last night. Shooting just 2/8 from the field, he had another Terry-like game. This guy has no consistency and I don't trust this guy as the new Ray Allen. He was supposed to save us from the Ray Allen controversy, not make us want the traitor back. He isn't 100% Celtic until he has a huge game. 3. KEEP GIVING LEE THE BALL: If Terry isn't the next Ray Allen, and Bradley is still recovering, then the next viable option is Courtney Lee. This guy's play is tempting me to buy his jersey. Last night, Lee had 13 points. His 13 points was tied for second on the team. If he can shoot well, then keep giving it to him. It's basically free points. 2. KEEP PLAYING DEFENSE: Last night was the first great defensive effort from this team that we've seen for awhile. During their four game losing streak, the Celtics scored 77, 83, 96, and 83 again. Besides the 96 they scored in Sacramento, the Celtics didn't have a very good offense. Even when they were in Brooklyn, they only had 93. And last night's 94 wasn't a ton either. They don't have a very good offense, so their defense will need to step up. 1. REBOUND: This one is simple. It's no debate that a big part of their victory last night was the fact that they finally started rebounding. They need to get at least 2 shots on every possession. Or, you could just make 90% of your shots. Which one will it be? Tip-off for tonight's game will be at 7:00 ET. Despite the fact that my Packers are playing a playoff game tonight, I will still do live updates.

Report: Celtics 'very involved' with Cousins, but Ainge does not want to trade Bradley

Here at Celtics life we have an obligation to stay on top of these stories, so take this for what it is. NBA on NBC Boston is reporting that the C's are very involved with the Kings on Cousins (which we already knew), but that the hold-up is Danny Ainge's hesitancy to include Avery Bradley (he'd rather include Courtney Lee). Gethin Coolbaugh had the story tonight. Boston...

Jared Sullinger’s offensive rebounding: A closer look

Jared Sullinger is the 5th most efficient scorer after offensive rebounds in the NBA.We’ve discussed Boston’s apparent aversion to offensive rebounds before, but one Celtic has been productive on the offensive boards, and I’m guessing you don’t need me to tell you who that person is.In last night’s big win over the Pacers, Jared Sullinger grabbed four offensive rebounds...

DeMarcus Cousins to the Boston Celtics? Trade rumors from Sunday night

The rumor of the night: DeMarcus Cousins to the Boston Celtics. Rumors of a Cousins trade are nothing new. But Sunday night, AM 1510 NBC Sports Radio in Boston reported that Celtics GM Danny Ainge was working on a deal for the disgruntled Sacramento Kings center. Among the names in a rumored deal: Jeff Green, Jason Terry, Courtney Lee, Jared Sullinger and Avery Bradley. Not all...

Charge Squeek Past Red Claws 92-91 (VIDEO)

The Red Claws lost their second straight home game as they dropped this one to the Canton Charge 92-81. Center Fab Melo is still with the Celtics recovering from the concussion. Fellow Celtic Kris Joseph once again came off the bench to play 25 minutes and add 14 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block. DaJuan Summers led the Red Claws with 23 points, 12 rebounds...

Mike Petraglia offers to trade Kevin Garnett. Has it come to this?

When a team is struggling, it's only natural for its fans to demand trades. That I'm OK with. Now, since ESPN created Trade Machine, we've witnessed a myriad of stupid trades that would make sense for only one team that's involved, but you know what, that's OK too, because at least there was effort put in them to make the math work, because some people propose...

Taking Stock: Celtics – Pacers

After every game, we’ll take stock of how each individual performance affects the player’s overall value. Starters Offense:     Defense:      Overall:  Rondo off the ball is a menace.  If this was football, we say he’s a great free safety but a bad cornerback.  With Bradley in the game, Rondo can roam into passing lanes and sneak up on players on the post...

KG falls into the crowd and breaks one of Tommy Heinsohn’s monitors

At first glance, this video is really nothing to get all that excited about. The Boston Celtics are leading the game by fifteen points. A ball is flying out of bounds and Kevin Garnett in all his KG-ness decides to give a little bit extra effort to save the ball, although an argument can be made that this is the best part of the video because he’s about 67.5 years old and he is...

NBA Report: Sullinger fit to be King?

Well, its that time of year again in the NBA. Players are being waived. Ten-day contracts are being pulled from filing cabinets. Twitter is buzzing, with the trade deadline just a little more than a month away. These are the moments for which many pro basketball fans decide to exist. And the hot rumor of the moment involves none other than Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins...

Poor third quarter dooms Hawks against Celtics

ATLANTA (AP) -- Rajon Rondo had 14 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, and the Boston Celtics rallied to beat the Atlanta Hawks 89-81 on Saturday night. Paul Pierce scored 17 of his 26 points in the third quarter as the Celtics erased a 19-point deficit and went on to consecutive wins for the first time since late November against Oklahoma City and Orlando. Boston, which beat Indiana...

Photo Gallery: Celtics-Pacers

Celtics broke-out of their slump last night at TD Garden with a 94-75 win over the Indiana Pacers. They are now in Atlanta on the tail end of their back-to-back to face the Hawks. Tip-off tonight is at 7pm EST. No word from the league office yet on whether or not KG will face any penalties after last night’s flagrant 2 foul. Check out the GIF & let me know in the comments what...

Celtics-Hawks Preview

The Boston Celtics have gained a reputation as a very good defensive team the last few years, but that wasn't the case at all during a recent four-game skid. While they returned to form for at least one night, they will need more consistency to get back on track after sliding below .500. Boston will also try to snap a three-game road losing streak when it faces the Atlanta...

Third-quarter run sparks Celtics past Hawks

ATLANTA -- Down 53-38 to the Atlanta Hawks at halftime, the Boston Celtics were snapping at each other and at coach Doc Rivers. Paul Pierce had had enough. "Don't get mad at Doc. He's coaching," Pierces said. "We've got to get mad at this other team. "I just said we wanted to bring the fight to them. We were kind of bickering at each other a little...

Pacers get trounced by Celtics by missing everything

Yes, the Pacers got beaten pretty badly by the Celtics (94-75), but I wasn't too cut up about it. It was, honestly, just one of those games. The Celtics commentators will praise the Boston defense for holding the Pacers to 31.8% shooting, the truth is that the Pacers simply missed a lot of open shots. Nothing was falling. Not even the free throws. The Pacers actually executed...

Courtney Lee Picking Up Where Avery Bradley Leaves Off Defensively As Celtics’ Rotation Rounds Into Form

The vaunted Celtics free agent class of 2012 so far has failed to live up to its billing. Jason Terry has suffered more long shooting droughts than hot streaks, Jeff Green has been largely ineffective, Darko Milicic is no longer with the team and Chris Wilcox has battled illnesses and injuries. There is still ample time for them to improve their grades, of course, but the midterm...
