76ers-holiday-eyes-free
The Philadelphia 76ers have one of the biggest injury stories in the league.  They don't want more.  Andrew Bynum has not yet played a game for his new team thanks to bad knees.  Now, the 76ers are dealing with Jrue Holiday and a sprained foot. According to Marc Narducci of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Holiday underwent an MRI that revealed a left foot sprain.  He will be a game-time decision for the 76ers, but if he can't go it will be a blow to their offense. The 76ers are battling.  They could be falling hopelessly out of contention with what they have had to deal with, but they're not.  Philadelphia is 12-10 and currently holds the eighth playoff spot.  Of course it's too early to look at playoff seeding, but the fact that Philadelphia is above .500 is impressive in and of itself.  Part of the reason is the contribution of players like Holiday.Holiday is in his fourth NBA season, all with the 76ers.  He has averaged 14.1 points per game in his career and 6.1 assists per game.  So far this season, Holiday is averaging 17.2 points per game and 8.3 assists per game.  It's an All-Star level performance and proof of how a player can step up when called upon.  The 76ers needed him more than ever when they found out Bynum would be out for an extended period.  Holiday answered the call.  Unfortunately, this foot injury could derail him.  If he is able to go tonight against the Indiana Pacers, we'll have to watch how his production may be affected by the injury.
