Sixers point guard Jrue Holiday
The new look Sixers start the 2012-13 season with their biggest off-season acquisition on the bench. Andrew Bynum who for now will be limited for the next three weeks is a huge piece that the Sixers must have healthy and “the fans” need to be patient. Precaution, was the word used in regard to Bynum being shelved, so don’t expect much from Bynum even after the three weeks has ended, as our franchise player just might sit longer.
The player second on the list of importance (possibly tied for first) to a successful Sixers season, Jrue Holiday. Last season, Holiday  posted decent numbers averaging 13.5 points and 4.5 assists running the offense. Holiday was definitely hurt by the lock-out last season, turnovers being his biggest nemesis. Now with Iggy gone via trade to Denver, running the team is now all Holiday and where his numbers need to improve and should, assists. The Sixers have improved greatly in their ability to shoot the ball by adding Richardson, Wright and Nick Young and with these additions the pressure to shoot is off of Holiday. Running the offense more effectively, taking better shots and turning the ball over less, the three keys to a successful season for Holiday and the Sixers.
Doug Collins has been extended through next season and managing partner Josh Harris is looking to go beyond 2013-14. Calling Collins a “world-class coach” and desiring to make the Sixers a World-Class organization, locking in Collins is a no-brainer. In his two seasons in Philly, Collins has a 76-72 record but more importantly has taken the Sixers to the playoffs both seasons, advancing to the conference semi’s last season. Locking up Collins, another big move by the new management that keeps one of the best coaches in the NBA in Philly and gives the team stability that they have long lacked over the years.Similar Posts:
