Baron Davis And Warriors Far Apart In Contract Negotiations

After some informal contract discussion, the Warriors and Baron Davis are far apart on contract terms. So far, in fact, that Baron's agent actually brought up the possibility of him opting out.

I can not say that I am surprised - especially after the Dunleavey/Murphy semi-disaster - that they are being tight with thier money.

Monta and Biedrins are going to be requiring hefty contracts next year and I think Mullin is kind of planning to build around the two of them.

I think the combo of Boom w/ Monta at the 2 is pretty exciting. I can't imagine it differently.

Hopefully they come to terms soon!

The combination of Baron & Monta is more than just exciting, it's promising. Granted the Warriors unfortunately didn't make the Playoffs this year but with the talent they have on that team...it wouldn't take much to promise a playoff spot (easier said than done in the West I guess). I think not agreeing to Barons terms is a step back for the Warriors, they should do whatever they can to keep him in the bay. I'm sure GSW fans feel the same.

All that being said, I think he'll stay.

they just need to get him some rest & support so he doesn't burn out at the end of the season when it matters most.

Baron's agent is full of hot air. He's just threatening to opt him out so he gets money for his player. What other team in the NBA can afford him?

hope you're right.

Knicks and D'antoni r gonna be lookin for a gunner pretty soon, trust me GSWgirl i dont wanna see him there im just sayin, dont make me go sit in the corner agian, without dinner was it?

you know what to do.....

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! brilliant u r totally hilarious

I second that motion, GSWgirl. Perfect for Annt. He knows he needs it.

We can't lose Baron! He has completely re-instated my love for the team since he has come over from the Hornets and he gave the Warriors every ounce of energy he possessed over the last season. We need to secure Baron, Ellis, and Beans for at least the next 3-5 years. Baron may be getting older but we could probably trade him off in 2 or 3 years if need be. Otherwise we could keep him on the bench for moral and sh*t talking support like Houston's Mutombo. How old is Cassel? like 38? He's still out there doing his thing. I think we will keep Baron though. I know the head office is weary of long extensions based on flops like Foyle, Dunleavy, and Murphy but we've also made numerous horrible trades that I am sure still haunts them. Plus, the past two seasons with our current lineup is the best the Warriors have been in a decade+ so it would be retarded to tear it up.

This is true. I think they need to make a few minor adjustments but keep the nucleus of the team in tact.

i love boom, i love that he is in the yay, this is interesting that the GSW would just not give him everything he wants without hesitation, makes me wonder.........its nice to spend the wekend in Norcal seeing Boom and the boys at the Oracle right off the what is it 808???

880 - close enough. (i know you're from la cause they all say, "the" before the freeway lol)
I love Boom in the Yay too!
You have to understand them being cautious with the money though. Hopefully it's just posturing so they both get a fair shake. We'll see!

LOL....thats funny i didnt realize us LA peeps say that, but u r rught we do........didnt think bout the posturing effect, makes sense......

"The La"? I thought it was called "La-La Land." But what do I know; I'm 3000 miles away! :-D

Also, what are these "freeways" you speak of? We don't have that many of those. There's a toll road which only has one name ("the Pike"); there's also 93, 95, 128 (which is 95 most of the time, but nobody says that), 495, and others that aren't exactly close to here. It's those pesky homes and residents. They always seem to get in the way. What's that? Eminent domain? Never heard of it. ;-)

you know cali - we love to drive!

yes la-la-land or tinseltown, or when i did live in Norcal for a short time and then decided to move back to LA people would say "so youre movin back to Hell-A".......yes many homes had to be demolished for the freeways here in LA, home of the biggest interchange i think like 5 or 6 freeways cross at one point

i actually like LA. once i get over the fact that i can't breath.
my sister lives in westwood.

All too well. My uncle, aunt, and cousin used to live in the East Bay (Pleasanton). I never visited them when they were out there, though; they quickly relocated back east. My uncle thought it would be a Green paradise, and boy, was he wrong! Not as long as Richard Pombo was his US representative. :-D

Funnily enough, their current home is also far removed from civilisation (Skippack Township, Pa.; 30 miles northwest of Philly).

I was referring to the prevailing nature of highway developments. 35 years ago or so, there was a plan to have an extensive highway network in Greater Boston, but those pesky residents got in the way. No compensation was just enough for taking their historic homes through eminent domain. Take a look at a map and see how I-95 is interrupted for about a ten-mile radius (20-mile diameter) around Boston. Good old NIMBYism. Unfortunately, they haven't found a credible alternative to that, either. ;-)

They tore down my childhood home to build a bridge. :-(
It was far from historic though.

i actually like LA. once i get over the fact that i can't breath LOL!!! ya its pretty bad at times

Getting rid of BD will be a downgrade for the Warriors. The reason they are a good team is simply because of Baron's ability to set up everybody and make plays. Whenever Baron is not on the floor, everything is in disarray. They are a trade or two to be a contender for the championship so they need to focus on that and as long as they keep, BD, MONTA, CJACK, AND BIEDRINS. I would sacrifice Al Harrington and Pietrus to get a good PF and probably sacrifice some of the bench player to get that quality 6th man off the bench. But hey, i'm just a fan.... It's still up to Mullin for the decisions....
