Brian Scalabrine has been loved and hated; valued and vilified; counted on and counted out.
He was brought in to be a veteran role playing leader. He became a punchline and a scapegoat. He was named on lists of "worst contracts." At one point fans started to give him the old Bronx cheer (cheering in jest).
Then somewhere along the line he became useful again. The cheers became genuine. People actually started counting on him. Now he's back to being a veteran role playing leader. His contract is actually an asset now because it is expiring this year.

For those of us who were hoping that Danny would sign a veteran point guard, I can guarantee than no one had Dan Dickau in mind. But, the news from the Globe is that Danny has invited Dan Dickau to training camp. The news continues to sound good for Kevin Garnett and his recovery from knee surgery: Celtics general manager Danny Ainge said the team continues to be cautious with Garnett, who missed the playoffs with a right knee injury that eventually required surgery on May 26.“We’re looking for him to be there at the end of the season, not just the start of the season,” Ainge said....
