Found November 30, 2008 on Sports Muffin:
Ever since the Portland Trailblazers won the 2007 draft lottery and the rights to Greg Oden, they have been labeled by many as the "it" team of the future. Many predicted before this current season that the Blazers may fight for the 7th or 8th playoff seed in a tough Western Conference, but that they realistically wouldn't have a shot of doing great things until they gain another 2-3 years of experience. Well, with an impressive 12-6 start to the season, Blazer fans may not have to wait any longer for greatness. Yeah a 12-6 record might not look that spectacular to most people, but they have only played 7 of their 18 games at home, in which they are undefeated and are a respectable 5-6 on the road. Considering how young this team is (average age of 24) that road record is even more impressive. They also have 3 rookies who get considerable playing time and they can only get better as the season rolls on. Greg Oden has finally cracked the starting line-up as he has gotten healthier and in decent game shape. The Blazers have a clear leader in Brandon Roy, but if he struggles, they have another all-star caliber player in Lamarcus Aldrige, who has improved greatly in each of his 3 seasons. It's doubtful that the Blazers can compete with the LA Lakers, as was seen on opening night, but there is no reason to think that they can't win their division and claim the second seed in the Western Conference, which they currently hold by the way. RIP CITY BABY!!!

  • GO BLAZERS!!!! Great game this afternoon. LA just used Sheed all day long and took him out of the game early. Greg looks like he's coming along nicely. This team should definitly place in the top 4 with how they look now but I don't wanna get to far ahead of myself. Kill NY first and get to five in a row. GO BLAZERS!!!
  • I can admit when I am wrong, I had no idea the Blazers would be 2008-2009 World Champs. Congrats
  • I love it. I have a bet with this customer at my bar who says that the Blazers won't make the playoffs. Easy money!
  • I agree. NUMBER TWO IN THE WEST
  • Blazers will win the World Championship

Brandon Jennings: Go to Europe Young Man

Mere mortals do not attempt to do the things that Brandon Jennings does. People like you and I do not use our 40 inch vertical to sail upwards towards a metal rim only to jam a leather ball through it, smile, and return to Earth. We don't have the balls to adopt a 1989 haircut for our first excursion into the limelight (if we get a piece of the limelight...

Greg Oden Enjoys Bad Sitcoms

According to ESPN, Greg Oden is a huge Will Smith fan, loves CBS's Two and a Half Men, and dreamed of becoming a dentist when he was younger. Geez, if not for the photographic evidence showing that Oden enjoys dancing with hot chicks in extremely short skirts, I'd say he and I have pretty much nothing in common...

Young McRoberts!!!!!!!

I am staying in Carmel, Indiana, which is north of Indianapolis. In this area lots of people know high school basketball. When you ask someone about it, the first name that pops in their minds is not Greg Oden, Michael Conley Jr., or Eric Gordon. It's JOSH MCROBERTS, one of my favorite people in the world. He is one of the funniest people I have met, and the one person in high school...

Sober Seattle Saturday: The week in sports missed while you were intoxicated

Seahawks president Tim Ruskell set aside his Mormon Tabernacle Choir boy criteria for football players and slapped the franchise tag on linebacker Leroy Hill who will make $8.304 million next season. As you may recall, Hill was jailed last month after the fuzz found my favorite defensive player asleep at the wheel while stopped at an intersection in suburban Atlanta. Oh, and he had...
