Hornets Hurt Warriors' Playoff Chances

Chris Paul had a rather quiet triple double in leading New Orleans to a commanding 12-point victory over Golden State, which drops the Warriors 1/2 game back from the Nuggets for the 8th and final playoff spot in the west. Stephen Jackson and Baron Davis, usually the catalysts and leaders of Nellie's circus act he calls a basketball team, played miserably. They shot a combined 11-33 from the field, including 1-14 from 3-point range, with 9 turnovers.

Worse than their shooting was their horriific, lazy defense. On several occasions, Baron didn't even put his hands up to defend outside shots. He just stood there and watched. There was zero help defense on penetrators and kickouts and hardly any switching on man-to-man coverage. I know this team has an up-tempo, hich-octane identity to uphold, but there comes a point where they have to at least make the minimal effort on defense. As a Warriors fan, it is painful to watch. How many easy baskets did David West have in the second half?

It's really a shame that Monta's incredible offensive display (17-26 from the field) was wasted today. But it looks as if some guys just don't give a crap out there. Unless they can really turn things around, I don't see this team getting that last playoff spot. The Mavericks are losing to the Suns right now, but they are in great shape to get at least the #8 seed. The Nuggets should win tonight in Seattle, making Thursday's showdown in Oakland against Melo, A.I. & company a must-win for the Warriors.

I want to be a believer but Nellieball is almost too difficult to accept.

I don't have a problem with Nellieball per se`. I have a problem with his inability/unwillingness to sub.
There is no reason the starters are racking up as many mpg as they are. He just refuses to give Jack or Baron a rest.
I don't know why everyone is so surprised that they are exauhsted.

Exactly

agreed

baron n da boys looked exhausted out there fightin for their lives

You're right....Nellie needs to figure out a different strategy. I love Baron and it seems that he and Monta along with Jack are the only ones who are carrying the team on their shoulders. Why is that? This is a team effort and everyone should be doing their part each and every game. They're not in the best position right now to be lazy! We need to see more of Harrington, Barnes, Azebuke, Wright, etc. EVERYONE should be on the same page. They won only one out of the 4 road games and that was against Memphis, which is not one of the better teams such as San Antonio, Dallas, Houston. If they are losing against the better teams now then how will they stand a chance when they match up in the playoffs.

I love watching the Warriors play, they're my second favorite team besides the Hawks but I honestly can't see them ever competing seriously in the playoffs. Their style of mismatching is effective vs some teams (Dallas last year), but the lack of D as you mentioned and the shoot the ball in 7 seconds approach is a good way to gain and lose a lead. I don't ever think a Warrior lead or deficit is insurmountable.
What's up with Nellie's crazy rotations? Are Barnes and Bookie in or out????

I was expecting to see more from Barnes and Azebuke this year. I understand that Barnes has dealt with some personal issues but they really need him to step up his game. Plus, his chances of staying with Golden State seem slim right now. They need to win every game from here on so that they can AT LEAST claim the 8th spot! And even if they do, how far they will go? They blew out Dallas last year in the first round but if the playoffs were to start today and they matched up against the Hornets would they be able to eliminate them.

DAMMIT, JUST LET THEM IN THE PLAYOFFS!!! I CAN'T STAND DALLAS!!!

Despite the last game....I like thier chances vs. New Orleans.
If they are fresh and rested and Nellie is using his brain with subs - they can give them a run for thier money.

dawg don't call yourself a warrior fan if your gonna be such a hater...i wanna see them win just as bad as anybody but dont got bloggin and puttin ppl on blast like your doing...if u own any we believe gear u need to give it away to a true fan
