I would trade DeRosa right now. The Mets need a first baseman, and DeRosa can play other positions when Delgado returns. Let’s get some pitching prospects.
Valbuena must return to Columbus to perfect his hitting. Josh Barfield will be recalled and given a chance to play second base. Jamie Carroll is the backup.
We must tighten the infield defense. Jhonny Peralta is the third baseman, period. Cabrera is the shortstop.
As soon as Hafner is ready, we release Delluci. LaPorta must play everyday, while Francisco becomes the fourth outfielder. Eventually, bring up Brantley.
Garko must play. He can play first, DH, but never the outfield.
Stop sending failed journeymen relievers back to Columbus. Release them and get some new blood up through the system with quicker promotions.
If a contender loses their catcher, use Shoppach as bait, extort their best prospects from them. We have plenty of available backup catchers ready.
When Westbrook is ready, Reyes is the long reliever.

Right now the bullpen protects a lead about as often as they have rainouts at the Tropicana Dome.
Right now the Indians come from behind to win about as often as SportsCenter fails to mentions the Yankees or Red Sox during the headlines.
The Indians have a consistent daily lineup about as often as the Los Angeles Clippers make the NBA playoffs.
The Indians play is about as inspired as someone facing jury duty the next day.
Pretty soon attendance numbers at Progressive Field will be equal to the number of people who enjoyed the song “Muskrat Love”.
